Activities at Lancaster Grange Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Lancaster Grange Care Home

International Museum Day

Residents of Lancaster Grange are celebrating International Museum Day. We connected with the National Civil War Centre - Newark Museum, who graciously lent us many items, our theme was 'wash days'.

There any memories of smells and visual objects, beautiful moments and fun times of being a child as we watched mum on her wash day.

Residents talked us through a typical wash day at home when they were children, and we listened carefully.

Maxey's Farm Shop

We had a lovely ride out to Maxey's Farm Shop, who kindly donated us some local vegetables for National Vegetarian Week.

Residents chopped and advised on the preparation and cooking of homemade vegetable soup with the fresh vegetables we collected this morning. They are looking forward to tasting this tonight!

Health & Well-Being Day

We started the day with a food-based quiz on... 'How well do you know your foods?' We then moved on to a virtual event through Zoom, an armchair-based Exercise class with the Green Goddess, and a talk on mindfulness, which our residents found most interesting.

Mystery Tour

Our Lancaster Grange residents very much enjoyed their mystery tour. We travelled through the village of Claypole to pick up some delicious sausage rolls from F. Doncasters Butchers to enjoy on the journey.

We stopped off in Dry Doddington. This village has a connection with Joyce and her daughter and son in law live there. Joyce recalled the church and the area.

We drove through and admired the village of Caythorpem, which Pauline feels very connected to, and she admired the church and recalled the hill.

Finally, we drove and admired the village of Barnby in the willows, which is closely related to Maria.

A lovely, meaningful and delightful morning.

Royal Celebrations

Our Lancaster Grange residents gathered for an afternoon tea to congratulate the Queen on her 95th birthday.

Our ladies and gentlemen savoured cream cakes kindly donated by Bakkavor in Newark for this special occasion.

We raised a glass of sherry in memory of Prince Phillip. We then enjoyed tea, cake and a quiz on the royal family.

Bedroom Visits

This was a lovely indoor bedroom visit with Ken and his family this afternoon. They enjoyed a long-deserved catch up and finally got together to spend quality time.
