Activities at Kenwyn Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Kenwyn Care Home

Meet the Fawkes Family

Our residents had great fun, and worked hard creating guys for our “Build a Guy Competition”. They were judged by Kate Taylor, regulation manager and our own deputy manager Marie Wilson.

They both agreed that the guys were all amazing and decided that there would be a joint first prize, and joint runner up prizes.

Celebrating 25 Years of Service

Admin Assistant, Jo Mawby has received her 25 years long service award. She began her career at Kenwyn as a care assistant, before changing to the admin role, where she has held various roles within this department.

Jo is being presented her Barchester pin, £250 worth of vouchers and bottle of Champagne by Nikki Culleton, General Manager of Kenwyn, along with some members of our team: Jo Dempsey, Head Chef, Marlene Graham, Head of Housekeeping, and Ross Lannon her fellow Admin Assistant.

Jo Mawby said: “During my time of working at Kenwyn, as you can imagine, I have seen a lot of changes, but have always maintained my loyalty and willingness to move along with the changes.

I love my job, and the variety it brings. I am always willing to be helpful and supportive in any way I can to the home, residents, family members and colleagues.”

We are delighted to announce that we have just had a Magic Table installed, which is an interactive light projector, designed to support residents living with dementia by keeping them engaged through specialised games.

The light projections respond to hand and arm movement, allowing residents to stay stimulated and, most of all, have fun!
