Types of care
Kernow House is committed to the delivery of person-centred care to every individual who we support. Our home specialises in caring for working age or older adults living with Huntington's or advanced dementia. We understand that every individual we care for is on a journey - one that isn't always easy and which will inevitably lead to change. That's why our environment and staff teams have been tailored to meet those evolving needs. Our Millaton service for individuals with Huntington's disease is equipped to deal with every stage of the condition. It has an enviable reputation as a centre of specialism; we work closely with the HDA and local support groups to ensure that we offer the latest evidence-based care for this specialism. Our complex dementia facility, Memory Lane community and higher dependency dementia nursing unit, ensure that each resident can be cared for in an environment that suits their needs at that time by a team who, through training and experience, understand how to respond to the different situations that arise from people living with dementia.Read more

Hi, my name is Gail, and I am the General Manager here at Kernow. Welcome to our website!
I am often asked what motivates me to do this job and I always reply that it is an honour to work with a team who are so dedicated to providing the best care possible to our residents.
I am also overwhelmed with pride when I see staff grow in confidence and knowledge; cultivating an environment where staff feel supported to develop is the very important to me.
I am a registered nurse with over 40 years’ experience, I have worked in a hospital, the community and care homes in various roles, from staff nurse to ward sister, CPN to home manager, with a spell in senior management too. I take pride in being a nurse and making a difference.
I am also a trained counsellor and holistic therapist.Get in touch Meet my team
