Kernow House Care Home in Launceston

Kernow House is a beautiful purpose-built care home that provides care for older people, including those living with dementia, as well as younger people with physical disabilities. The home has been specifically designed to meet the needs of the people who live here. We have well-equipped, well-maintained modern facilities, and the level of care, service and attention to detail at Kernow House complement the fine surroundings.

Our Millaton Suite at Kernow House specialises in the care of individuals who are experiencing challenges and changes associated with Huntington’s disease and other similar neurological conditions.

Our St Piran’s Suite cares for individuals who are experiencing the challenges and changes associated with their dementia.

The home helps residents regain independence, choice and freedom in a comfortable and safe environment. High standards and a person-centred approach allow our staff to enjoy caring for young and older residents living with the challenges of complex dementia or Huntington’s disease. We pride ourselves on the standard of care we provide.

We are always happy to discuss how we can best meet your needs. So please feel free to pop in for a cup of coffee or give us a call.

Types of care

Kernow House is committed to the delivery of person-centred care to every individual who we support. Our home specialises in caring for working age or older adults living with Huntington's or advanced dementia. We understand that every individual we care for is on a journey - one that isn't always easy and which will inevitably lead to change. That's why our environment and staff teams have been tailored to meet those evolving needs. Our Millaton service for individuals with Huntington's disease is equipped to deal with every stage of the condition. It has an enviable reputation as a centre of specialism; we work closely with the HDA and local support groups to ensure that we offer the latest evidence-based care for this specialism. Our complex dementia facility, Memory Lane community and higher dependency dementia nursing unit, ensure that each resident can be cared for in an environment that suits their needs at that time by a team who, through training and experience, understand how to respond to the different situations that arise from people living with dementia.

Our Team

The dedicated and experienced team are passionate about providing quality care to each individual living at the home.

Leigh Stanley

General Manager

Welcome to Kernow House, my name is Leigh and I am the General Manager at the home.

I am a registered mental health nurse. Prior to becoming a nurse, I spent 13 years as a soldier in the British Army, serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and other overseas operations. I became interested in post-traumatic stress disorder and decided to train as a nurse. During this nurse training, I discovered a particular interest in working with dementia and decided to pursue a career in this.

As Manager, I put my leadership skills to good use when managing the home. I ensure we deliver person-centred care in a therapeutic manner and share my knowledge with other staff, both within the home and with outside professionals.

I acknowledge that whilst residents are at the forefront of our home, it is important that staff are supported, so the care we deliver as a whole home is filled with passion and enthusiasm.

I am always available for any enquiries you might have.
