Activities at Hilderstone Hall Care Home

Our activities team are, first and foremost, devoted to each and every resident in the home, and strive to ensure that their interests, hobbies, capabilities and individual requests are met to the highest standard. This could include one-to-one chats, hand massages, reading, music therapy, flower arranging, movement to music, arts & crafts, gardening and baking. We also have regular fun, adventurous and stimulating trips, where we encourage families and loved ones to join us. We have close links with the Alzheimer's Society, the local primary school, and Trinity Skills who come to sing with residents. All the staff at Hilderstone Hall participate in activities with residents, offering encouragement, stimulation and interaction for everyone involved, providing the most fulfilling experience possible.

Menagerie favorites were Colin the red footed tortoise, Toby the snake and Elsa beautiful Artic Fox

Employee of the Month

Residents and staff at Hilderstone Hall applauded as Housekeeping and Laundry Assistant Lesley Stirzaker was named ‘Employee of the Month’ for her hard work, dedication to her work and positive attitude  .
Lesley was nominated by Staff and residents who felt she really deserved extra recognition for the amazing work she does every day.

Theatre Live

We welcomed the Northeast Producers Theatre to the home for their summer show "When I'm Cleaning Windows"

Josh and Dan performed a great selection of classic songs entertaining the audience with their fabulous live performance.

Gardening Club

Our gardening club is growing in numbers, residents have made the most of the outdoors this summer taking part and keeping active.  This year we have peas, beans and sunflowers.

Residents and staff have enjoyed watering and watching their creations grow, there is a huge sense of achievement.

Opera Performance

Our homes had a fabulous time with the talented soprano Astrid Joos from Street Theatre.  Astrid spoke about a selection of famous operas and our residents were treated to performances of wonderful arias from operas well-known to all, such as ‘Giuditta’, ‘Don Giovanni’ and ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’.

It was a lovely experience, truly enjoyed by all.

National Cheese Day

On National Cheese Day our get-together for an afternoon social was very special.  Familes and friends joined their loved ones for tasty nibbles, a spot of Wimbledon and a Cheese Quiz!

Regular themed social events keep us smiling, connected and engaged.  We all enjoyed a wonderful selection of delicious cheeses and wines served in the Bistro and Lounge by our activities team who presented some old favourites and some new tastes for everyone to sample.
