The Spires has been specifically designed to provide high-quality residential care to older people, including those individuals living with dementia. The home is located close to Lichfield's city centre, with easy commuter links to the surrounding local villages, such as Upper and Lower Longdon, Hammerwich, Burntwood and Kings Bromley to name a few.
This 70 bed home in Lichfield provides residential care in a warm, homely and friendly environment. Our team of qualified and dedicated staff focus on the individual needs of residents and are committed to providing professional and respectful care with the residents at the heart of everything they do.
The home has a dedicated area, which we call our Memory Lane Community. This provides high-quality care for people with living dementia. Within our community, memory boxes with small reminders and items such as photographs are used to help each person reminisce. Features such as adapted crockery and tableware, sensory gardens with low risk walkways and activity kitchens also enables people to engage in life's everyday simple tasks and pleasures. Essential to our homely feel is the enhanced relationship of trust we build with family, friends and residents.
Our luxurious facilities combined with highly trained staff ensures that each and every individual is given superior attention. Our 24-hour care is provided in a warm, welcoming environment, with delicious meals and daily activities, including a choice of therapeutic approaches. Together with our lively social calendar, this helps to stimulate residents' minds, and empowers them to approach their future in a positive way.

Hi, my name is Fran and I am the General Manager here at The Spires. Welcome to our website!
I joined the RAF in 1985 and then became a lecturer in the further education teaching sector in 2004. After working in the domiciliary sector for 5 years, I became the Deputy Manager at Wheatlands in 2008 and was appointed as the General Manager in 2011. I was appointed to Acting General Manager at The Spires in 2018 and I am thrilled to be leading a wonderful team at this stunning home.
I have gained qualifications in City & Guilds 7407 Stage 2 Further Education, social care, dementia care and care of the elderly, and was awarded with a post-graduate certificate in Management Studies (with credit) from Revans University. I am also a graduate member of the International Management Centres Association. I was awarded the Licentiateship Award for Health & Social Care Level 4 and Management Level 4 in 2007.
I am excited to be working in this stunning home in such a vibrant city as Lichfield, and looking forward to meeting the many community leaders who are already friends of the home. I love my work and aim to make The Spires a centre of excellence for care. It will also be a warm, welcoming and supportive environment for the residents who will make this their home
I worked in the retail and leisure industry up until 2003, then I started my own business as a registered childminder, which was very successful. I then joined the domiciliary care sector, which I grew to love.
I developed my career in this time, becoming a supervisor then a care coordinator, and eventually a branch manager for a new domiciliary care company in Tamworth.
I joined The Spires in July 2018 as a Senior Carer, having achieved Level 5 Health & Social Care and was promoted to Deputy Manager in October 2018.
Home Services Advisor
My role involves supporting residents and their families during the initial process of moving into The Spires. I understand how difficult this transition can be, and I am always happy to meet people to tell them more about our care & services to help make it a little easier. I am proud to be a Dementia Champion for the Alzheimer’s Society and I also network with the local community to make contacts who will benefit residents and bring additional events and activities into our home.
Until moving to The Spires, I was living in central Lichfield. I have a lovely family and many friends. I enjoy a game of Scrabble and spend quite a few hours playing once I find someone else keen to play. I am happy to be Resident Ambassador and I will greet all new residents and visitors with a smile and a warm welcome.
I have lived in Lichfield for over 30 years. I feel my knowledge and contacts locally offer me a great advantage when working at The Spires. I am involved in many local activities and have spent 15 years in administration and accounts. Before working at The Spires, I worked at a company that offered care to those with learning difficulties and mental health conditions.
I am a people person; my role at The Spires is a lovely combination of admin and meeting people – both residents, their families and friends. I joined just prior to the home opening and look forward to being here for many years.
I previously managed a day centre for the elderly for 25 years. I love my role as Activities Coordinator; it is a job I very much enjoy, as every day is different. My aim is to organise a fun-packed range of activities for everyone to participate in. We have daily activities, trips on our minibus and monthly events, including cheese & wine, fish & chip suppers and pamper sessions. We have wonderful residents who make me smile & laugh every day.
I have lived locally most of my life and love Lichfield. My previous career has been in hotel and administration roles, followed by 18 years with the Civil Service. I thoroughly enjoy my role as Concierge/Receptionist at The Spires.
I like interacting with people; the reception desk is always busy and the role is varied. I love getting to know residents; they have amazing stories to tell and every day is different.
Receptionist & Administrator
I have lived in Lichfield all my life. I have been in administration for 4 years, before changing my career to administration I was a care assistant for 6 years. I really enjoy my role as admin assistant /Receptionist at The Spires. I like interacting with people, the reception desk is always busy. I love getting to know residents and their families.
Receptionist & Administrator
I worked front of house in leisure for 23 years which was thoroughly enjoyable. Working at The Spires on Reception is so rewarding meeting and chatting and helping such lovely residents and their families. After looking after my Father with dementia it gave me an understanding of what families go through.
