Activities at Hethersett Hall Care Home

Activities, hobbies and interests make up the most important part of our days and who we are as people. We provide a varied activities programme that reflects the interests and capabilities of all the individuals we support. All of the group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self-worth. We achieve this through a constantly updated activities programme and one-to-one sessions with residents that are tailored to suit individuals needs. We also offer a range of outings in our mini-bus.

Caroline Evans

Activities Coordinator

Hi, I’m Caroline Evans and I’ve been at Hethersett Hall for 7 years now and been in the care sector for 13 years and believed it was time for a change in my career at Barchester.

I’m extremely motivated for my new role as activities coordinator. I hope I will bring joy and fun to everyone’s daily lives. I am a highly active and bubbly person. Looking after other people has always been my priority and I will do my best every day to make sure everyone is happy, safe and smiling.

I look forward to meeting you and hope you will all join in the events and activities that I will bring to Hethersett Hall.

Bonfire Night Spectacular

Residents, family, friends and staff all came together to share a wonderful evening of Bonfire Night celebrations. The evening started off with a delicious buffet that our chefs Donna and Tony prepared.

Afterwards, we all wrapped up warm and went outside to watch a fire dancing performance and firework display. There were lots of “ooohs” and “aaahs” from the crowd. We all returned inside to the warm lounge, where we were entertained by Splash Duo, who got us all singing and dancing – they were amazing!

The home was filled which such a fantastic atmosphere and we all had a great evening. We'd like to say a very special thank you to all who visited and the staff at Hethersett Hall for all their hard work in making the evening such a success!

Happy Halloween!

Our lovely chef displayed lots of spooky treats for supper, including pumpkin soup from a cauldron! The staff and some residents enjoyed dressing in Halloween costumes, from Dracula to witches and even a zombie hippy. In the afternoon, we played pumpkin bowling and witch toss and, of course, everyone got lots of sweets for taking part. We all had a great time celebrating Halloween!

Halloween Arts & Crafts

Halloween Arts & Crafts

Residents enjoyed drawing faces and scooping out pumpkins. Some residents got stuck in whilst others preferred the less messy option of chatting and drinking tea  We also made some Halloween lanterns from jam jars, which we put on display in our reception area. We sure had lots of fun decorating our home for Halloween, and the residents were happy to have busy hands!

Wear it Pink Day

On 19th October, members of staff dressed up in pink to raise money for breast cancer. The atmosphere in the home was amazing! Residents, relatives and staff certainly enjoyed our cake sale, because there weren't many cakes left by supper time! A special thank you to everyone that came along to support us in raising money for this good cause.

Mini Donks on Tour

Mini Donks on Tour

We had a visit from some miniature donkeys earlier this week. Oh wow, what a lovely afternoon! The donkeys were very well behaved and very gentle with the residents, and the staff were very friendly and professional. The residents loved seeing them! It was so nice for staff to see their reactions and how happy they were – after all, it’s not every day we see donkeys in our lounge!

Lunch in the Sunshine

Lunch in the Sunshine

Our residents enjoyed a beverage while sitting by the river watching the boats and wildlife, followed by a tasty lunch made by the lovely staff at Surlingham Ferry Inn. It was really nice to chat with our residents and hear stories from their lives. We were very lucky the sun was shining and certainly made the most of it!
