Activities at Hethersett Hall Care Home

Activities, hobbies and interests make up the most important part of our days and who we are as people. We provide a varied activities programme that reflects the interests and capabilities of all the individuals we support. All of the group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self-worth. We achieve this through a constantly updated activities programme and one-to-one sessions with residents that are tailored to suit individuals needs. We also offer a range of outings in our mini-bus.

Caroline Evans

Activities Coordinator

Hi, I’m Caroline Evans and I’ve been at Hethersett Hall for 7 years now and been in the care sector for 13 years and believed it was time for a change in my career at Barchester.

I’m extremely motivated for my new role as activities coordinator. I hope I will bring joy and fun to everyone’s daily lives. I am a highly active and bubbly person. Looking after other people has always been my priority and I will do my best every day to make sure everyone is happy, safe and smiling.

I look forward to meeting you and hope you will all join in the events and activities that I will bring to Hethersett Hall.

VE Day Celebrations

VE Day was celebrated in style here at the Hall on Saturday, as we welcomed back entertainers for the first time in over a year. Kitty Collins performed all the well-known songs from the 1940s and some from the '50s too. Residents enjoyed bopping along and fervently waving flags to all their favourites. What a wonderful afternoon!

Incredible Eggs

We were egg-static to receive duck eggs from Incredible Eggs recently, and we were all so excited to set up the incubator and pen then wait for them to hatch.

After a day, the eggs started to hatch and soon all the ducks were born and chirping happily.

The following day we introduced them to our lovely residents and they had lots of fuss and cuddles.

Yesterday, they went for their first swim and they loved it. Please see out Facebook page if you would like to see footage of our fluffy friends hatching.

Egg-stravaganza

To kick off Easter, we enlisted our creative residents who helped us decorate our Easter tree using different textures and coloured eggs, providing a sensory experience as well as a feast for the eyes. The residents spent time choosing the colours and delicately placed each egg on the artistic tree.

On Good Friday, our residents designed and made their very own Easter bonnets. All sorts of materials were used, including little chicks, shredded paper and stickers, all utilised to their fullest potential to create amazing bonnet creations. Later that afternoon, our fabulous staff paraded the bonnets in a fun fashion show – everyone was smiling and clapping along. Daisy our dancing cow even took part!

Over the weekend, our residents attended an Easter Sunday Service via Zoom with the lovely Reverend Rosie of St. Andrews Church in Trowse. We also played Easter-themed games, including egg bowls and egg races, finishing our celebrations off with an Easter egg hunt around the grounds with the help of a giant chicken.

Match Point

Residents like to keep active; we’re very lucky to have our own ping pong table, and it always proves to be a successful group activity, not only for exercise but for sharing a laugh with others with those social needs too!

Terrific Tech

We received a very generous gift from Cladspray Solutions through our connection with Friend in Deed. They kindly donated a brand new Alexa, a digital photo frame, headphones, as well as other forms of technology, which our residents will thoroughly enjoy and support activities for a well enriched lifestyle. Thank you all so much!

The Wizardry of Magic Tables

We are very lucky to have a Magic Table 360 in our home; residents love to interact with it. Whether it’s by themselves or part of a group, there is something for everyone, at all different skill levels.

The games and apps are specially designed for people living with dementia to stimulate their varying needs. Sweeping leaves can be both sensory and help improve dexterity; it’s also a great conversation starter and talking piece.
