Activities at Hethersett Hall Care Home

Activities, hobbies and interests make up the most important part of our days and who we are as people. We provide a varied activities programme that reflects the interests and capabilities of all the individuals we support. All of the group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self-worth. We achieve this through a constantly updated activities programme and one-to-one sessions with residents that are tailored to suit individuals needs. We also offer a range of outings in our mini-bus.

Caroline Evans

Activities Coordinator

Hi, I’m Caroline Evans and I’ve been at Hethersett Hall for 7 years now and been in the care sector for 13 years and believed it was time for a change in my career at Barchester.

I’m extremely motivated for my new role as activities coordinator. I hope I will bring joy and fun to everyone’s daily lives. I am a highly active and bubbly person. Looking after other people has always been my priority and I will do my best every day to make sure everyone is happy, safe and smiling.

I look forward to meeting you and hope you will all join in the events and activities that I will bring to Hethersett Hall.

Draughts, Anyone?

Residents enjoyed a game of draughts whilst, making the most of the sunshine! These lovely gentleman had a friendly game and shared lots of laughter!

Divisional Carer of the Year

Congratulations to Becky Knott, who has been named as a Divisional Winner in the 2020 Barchester Care Awards. Becky is a finalist in the Carer of the Year category and has been invited to attend a virtual awards ceremony on 8th October, where she will find out if she has won overall.

Memory Lane

We have been busy creating memory boxes for residents' keepsakes. We spent time chatting about what colours residents would like to use, how they would like to decorate their boxes and what special photos or items they would like to put in them. Memory boxes are a special memento for residents to look through to remember happy times and significant moments in their lives, which is part of who they are and can be shared with others to engage conversation to meet social and emotional needs.

Strike

We introduced the residents of Memory Lane to our new bowling pins, which proved to be great fun, and was a chance to exercise as well. There was lots of laughter shared amongst residents, as we had a friendly competition.

Welcome Back!

We welcomed relatives back to visit their loved ones here at Hethersett Hall. We are following the Barchester and government guidelines to ensure the safety of residents, relatives and staff. It was a very special moment when residents were reunited with their families, despite not being able to greet one another with a hug. We are very pleased to offer these visits and to see such moments of joy. We are still offering Skype calls to relatives where necessary.

We’re all negative but remain positive!

We are very pleased to announce our home has remained free of Covid-19 and all staff and residents are keeping well. This has been a difficult time for everyone but we have tried our very best to maintain a sense of normality and routine in our residents daily lives. Activities staff have supported residents to maintain important contact with their family and friends through video calls every week along with activities to keep up everyone’s spirits. We are very grateful to have such a wonderful and dedicated team who go above and beyond every day to keep our residents happy and healthy.
