Activities at Hethersett Hall Care Home

Activities, hobbies and interests make up the most important part of our days and who we are as people. We provide a varied activities programme that reflects the interests and capabilities of all the individuals we support. All of the group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self-worth. We achieve this through a constantly updated activities programme and one-to-one sessions with residents that are tailored to suit individuals needs. We also offer a range of outings in our mini-bus.

Hi, I’m Caroline Evans and I’ve been at Hethersett Hall for 7 years now and been in the care sector for 13 years and believed it was time for a change in my career at Barchester.

I’m extremely motivated for my new role as activities coordinator. I hope I will bring joy and fun to everyone’s daily lives. I am a highly active and bubbly person. Looking after other people has always been my priority and I will do my best every day to make sure everyone is happy, safe and smiling.

I look forward to meeting you and hope you will all join in the events and activities that I will bring to Hethersett Hall.

A morning at the fair!

On Tuesday the 21st of April residents joined together to play a variety of target games, “at the fair”. Residents tried their luck playing Ping the Pong, Skittles, Lawn Darts and Hook a duck. This activity was aimed to meet the physical and social needs of our residents, to encourage gentle exercise to maintain mobility whilst interacting with others. Great fun was had by all!

On this day, we also celebrated National Tea Day and the Queens 94th birthday with a selection of tea and biscuits sent to us by the National Tea Group. Our chef also prepared some lovely scones. We decorated our home with lots of Union Jacks! Our residents wore hats and watched the Queen’s Birthday Parade from last year as they enjoyed their afternoon tea.

Fancy dress day!

On Friday the 17th of April the staff of Hethersett Hall wore a variety of fancy dress outfits and joined residents for a sing-a-long to share some positivity! There was a fantastic atmosphere among residents and staff throughout the day and it certainly brought smiles to people’s faces. One resident expressed her gratitude; “everyone made a great effort today and it really brought us all together in good spirits“.

Rainbows of hope

There has been some wonderful rainbows painted by many communities across the country to show hope. We thought this was such a lovely idea and wanted to share our rays of hope too! Our residents enjoyed painting their own rainbows and expressing their creativity.

Congratulations Christine!

Our hostess, Christine celebrated her 20th year of working at Hethersett Hall earlier this week. Our general manager Kerry presented Christine with a letter form Pete Calveley, a gift voucher for £250 and a 20 years pin as she was applauded by staff and residents. Thank you so much Christine for all your hard work and dedication.

Hethersett Hall residents take the gold!

This week, activities staff introduced the residents to the world of gaming on the “WII”. The residents in Memory Lane thoroughly enjoyed taking part in WII sport championships such as swimming and trampolining! One lady said; “she could play all day long!”

Keeping in touch

Our residents love to receive regular visits from their family, friends and Little Visitors from Friend in Deed. However at this difficult time we have been relying on Skype/FaceTime calls to maintain contact with the special people in our resident’s lives. We have a timetable in place to ensure each resident has regular contact with their family and friends. As always, the staff of Hethersett Hall are doing all they can to ensure the residents are happy and healthy. Video calls have also been a great learning aspect for residents too, expanding their knowledge on the wonder of technology.
