Activities at Hethersett Hall Care Home

Activities, hobbies and interests make up the most important part of our days and who we are as people. We provide a varied activities programme that reflects the interests and capabilities of all the individuals we support. All of the group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self-worth. We achieve this through a constantly updated activities programme and one-to-one sessions with residents that are tailored to suit individuals needs. We also offer a range of outings in our mini-bus.

Caroline Evans

Activities Coordinator

Hi, I’m Caroline Evans and I’ve been at Hethersett Hall for 7 years now and been in the care sector for 13 years and believed it was time for a change in my career at Barchester.

I’m extremely motivated for my new role as activities coordinator. I hope I will bring joy and fun to everyone’s daily lives. I am a highly active and bubbly person. Looking after other people has always been my priority and I will do my best every day to make sure everyone is happy, safe and smiling.

I look forward to meeting you and hope you will all join in the events and activities that I will bring to Hethersett Hall.

Chair based Ballet with Oomph on Demand

We are very lucky to have access to Oomph on Demand who have a fantastic selection of activities for our residents to enjoy.

Earlier this month, we tried chair-based ballet. Here at Hethersett Hall a couple of our residents loved to dance as children and one lady danced professionally. As you can imagine, she knew all the moves! Our residents of Memory Lane enjoyed a different approach to the chair exercise.

To finish we listened to a guided relaxation session, leaving our residents feeling very relaxed.

Celebrating Spring

To celebrate spring, we spent some time walking around the garden appreciating nature and bird watching. One of our residents was thrilled to hear the birds chirping, she whistled to them and they whistled back. An added bonus that our daffodils are in bloom too!

Later during the week both Main Hall and Garden House residents took time painting daffodils to express creativity. Garden House residents painted dozens of flowers for a giant art piece which is now proudly displayed on their lounge wall.

A Red Nosed, Hydration Station at Hethersett Hall

The week beginning 14th of March was Hydration and Nutrition week and what better way to stay hydrated than by trying our homemade smoothies?

Residents enjoyed Banana Bonanzas, Cheery Cherries and Build me up Blueberry shakes and smoothies from our “Hydration Station” which Activities Staff took around the home. Even Monty - the robotic cat enjoyed them!

On Friday 18th, staff dressed in red and donated £1 to show support for Comic Relief.

Anyone for Golf?

Our residents love a bit of friendly competition! Earlier this month they took turns having a go at our indoor gold game. There was certainly some exceptional hole in ones being scored! As a result of this activity our residents were able to exercise their motor skills, as well as, feeling a sense of accomplishment essential for their well-being.

Roarsome Dino at Hethersett Hall

Earlier this month residents enjoyed designing and painting their section of our Go Dino, before he roars off to his next care home to have the last part of him painted.

Mr Dino then heads back to the charity Break where he will be a part of the great North Norfolk Dino Hunt, so if your out and about in North Norfolk this summer keep an eye out for our very own Barchester one!

Valentine's Day Fun

Our residents enjoyed taking part in some Valentine's day art fun, especially seeing the end result. They loved our little Valentine's teddies with their special Valentine's Day messages.

To finish the day off we had a live streamed Zoom performance from Deano which topped off what had been an excellent Valentine's celebration for our well-deserving residents.
