Activities at Henford House Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in, as well as visits from PAT dogs, musicians and entertainers. We also host evenings such as our cheese & wine nights, pub evening, quiz nights and special occasions such as, Guy Fawkes, Easter and Christmas where we like to encourage relatives to come to. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Henford House is fun and active.

Debbie Phillips

Activities Coordinator

I joined Henford House in March 2014; after five and a half years of domiciliary care, this position became available at Henford and I decided that it would be great to do more of the fun things in life with residents! It is great here at the home; we get along so well and truly have some laughs. Residents have a wide range of activities to participate in each week, including armchair exercises, bingo sessions, singalongs, musical entertainment, pottery, manicures, celebrations and much more. It is very rewarding knowing that people are grateful for the work I've done when I go. Working here has also given me the opportunity to gain my Level 2 NAPA certificate.

Life at Henford House Care Home

A Life of Glamour

A Life of Glamour

Resident, Gerald (pictured here with his wife), had a family wedding; they went off looking very glamorous to celebrate this special day.

Electric Dave

Electric Dave

Dave has been coming to Henford for just over a year now. He interacts very well with residents; they wear his hats and sing along with him on the microphone, as well as listening to him play his electric guitar.

Garden Party

The Henford House Garden Party is our annual fundraising event - a fun-filled afternoon consisting of various stalls, a BBQ, cream teas, Tropical Discovery (holding reptiles & giant insects), Zumba dancing, a fire dance performer and face painting.

This year, the charity we were supporting was Julia’s House (Wiltshire) and the proceeds from the garden party reached £1,300.

Country & Western

Country & Western

Vanessa joined residents to provide country and western entertainment. She has visited Henford House a number of times; it’s nice to have a bit of country music to break up the other entertainers and Vanessa interacts very well with those we support.

Care Home Open Day

On Friday 16th June, Henford House held their Open Day. Residents, relatives, staff and members of the public, as well as our guests, The British Legion, had a wonderful afternoon in the garden enjoying cream teas, Pimm’s and musical entertainment, with Jim and John on guitars.

There was also a cake sale, a raffle and a 'guess the number of sweets in the jar' competition. All proceeds will go to Barchester’s Charitable Foundation.

Feeding the Ducks

Feeding the Ducks

We are lucky enough to be so close to a lovely area that is enjoyed by the local community all the time, and is just a short walk away from the home. Residents can go to this tranquil area to feed the ducks and take in the lovely countryside.
