Activities at Henford House Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in, as well as visits from PAT dogs, musicians and entertainers. We also host evenings such as our cheese & wine nights, pub evening, quiz nights and special occasions such as, Guy Fawkes, Easter and Christmas where we like to encourage relatives to come to. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Henford House is fun and active.

Debbie Phillips

Activities Coordinator

I joined Henford House in March 2014; after five and a half years of domiciliary care, this position became available at Henford and I decided that it would be great to do more of the fun things in life with residents! It is great here at the home; we get along so well and truly have some laughs. Residents have a wide range of activities to participate in each week, including armchair exercises, bingo sessions, singalongs, musical entertainment, pottery, manicures, celebrations and much more. It is very rewarding knowing that people are grateful for the work I've done when I go. Working here has also given me the opportunity to gain my Level 2 NAPA certificate.

Christmas Fun

Residents had a huge surprise when Amy and Rebecca went about their duties as Carers dressed as a turkey and an elf.

Valued Volunteers

Valued Volunteers

Volunteers gathered at Henford House for an afternoon of musical entertainment and a buffet as a thank you from the residents and staff for all their hard work and valued time they've given us throughout the year.

One volunteer in particular – Judith Duddy – was presented with flowers and a gold leaf pin from Barchester for volunteering for 10 years at Henford House.

We are so lucky to have such a great team of volunteers, who give so much to support a number of activities at our home.

We are truly grateful for everything they do and it was wonderful to have everyone together for the afternoon to show our appreciation.

Christmas Cake

Residents at Henford House have baked a Christmas cake and named it 'Star Sunburst'.

Employee of the Month - December

Employee of the Month - December

Congratulations to Activities Coordinator, Debbie Philips, who was named as Henford House's Employee of the Month for December. Debbie was nominated by staff and residents because of her hard work and for always having a smile on her face.

Apprentice/Learner of the Year

Apprentice/Learner of the Year

Rebecca Marsh has been named the 'Apprentice/Learner of the Year' at the Barchester Care Awards 2017.

Rebecca is an Apprentice Carer and has completed her NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care. Although she is relatively new to care, she is already inspiring others at the home with her kindness and positive attitude. When residents need her help, she’ll always be there, even if it’s in her spare time, because she consistently puts other people before herself.

Bride at Henford

Bride at Henford

Mr & Mrs Brian Shotter had a celebration afternoon with their family to celebrate their grandson’s wedding. For various reasons, Mr & Mr Shotter couldn't attend the ceremony, but enjoyed the full effect of seeing the beautiful bride in her dress at Henford House.

The family were able to use the upstairs lounge, which can accommodate a number of people, and were able to enjoy the refreshments that Mr & Mrs Shotter’s daughter had arranged.
