Activities at Henford House Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in, as well as visits from PAT dogs, musicians and entertainers. We also host evenings such as our cheese & wine nights, pub evening, quiz nights and special occasions such as, Guy Fawkes, Easter and Christmas where we like to encourage relatives to come to. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Henford House is fun and active.

Debbie Phillips

Activities Coordinator

I joined Henford House in March 2014; after five and a half years of domiciliary care, this position became available at Henford and I decided that it would be great to do more of the fun things in life with residents! It is great here at the home; we get along so well and truly have some laughs. Residents have a wide range of activities to participate in each week, including armchair exercises, bingo sessions, singalongs, musical entertainment, pottery, manicures, celebrations and much more. It is very rewarding knowing that people are grateful for the work I've done when I go. Working here has also given me the opportunity to gain my Level 2 NAPA certificate.

Bonfire Night!

Bonfire Night or Guy Fawkes Night is an annual opportunity for residents to enjoy watching a display in our extensive garden from the comfort and warmth of our lounge, in preparation this week we crafted our own Mr and Mrs Guy Henford! Thank you to all who donated to dress and them so well

To celebrate we chose a selection of fireworks and we gave our residents a lovely display to light up the grounds once the sun had set.

We all enjoyed traditional bonfire night treats, including toffee apples, treacle toffee and a traditional parkin cake prepared by the home’s chefs.

Pumpkin flower power!

Visitors were greeted to a of 'ray of sunshine' this weekend with the beautiful flower arrangements residents have made in pumpkins for our porch. It maybe Halloween this weekend but here is nothing scary about Henford House!!

Ukulele Piddle Entertains!

Residents enjoyed a visit by Paul this week as he entertained us as 'Ukulele Piddle' with his music, singing and banter the lounge was full of laughter! we all know how singing can help to improve your mood, breathing and self confidence, coupled with homemade cakes with our afternoon tea we are already looking forward to his next visit

Military Wives Choir

On Saturday 18th September, the Warminster Military Wives choir entertained the residents at Henford House on a glorious sunny afternoon.

The residents gathered in the garden and sang along to the songs performed.

A resident was celebrating his 80th birthday with family and the choir insisted they sang happy birthday to him which truly made his day.

It was a wonderful afternoon.

Bastille Day

Residents celebrated Bastille Day in a typical French fashion, with a delightful picnic on the patio enjoying French bread, cheeses, pates and wine.

Throughout the afternoon, residents practised their French, read facts about France and were challenged to a French quiz.
