Activities at Henford House Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in, as well as visits from PAT dogs, musicians and entertainers. We also host evenings such as our cheese & wine nights, pub evening, quiz nights and special occasions such as, Guy Fawkes, Easter and Christmas where we like to encourage relatives to come to. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Henford House is fun and active.

Debbie Phillips

Activities Coordinator

I joined Henford House in March 2014; after five and a half years of domiciliary care, this position became available at Henford and I decided that it would be great to do more of the fun things in life with residents! It is great here at the home; we get along so well and truly have some laughs. Residents have a wide range of activities to participate in each week, including armchair exercises, bingo sessions, singalongs, musical entertainment, pottery, manicures, celebrations and much more. It is very rewarding knowing that people are grateful for the work I've done when I go. Working here has also given me the opportunity to gain my Level 2 NAPA certificate.

Life at Henford House Care Home

We planted a tree for the Jubilee!

To celebrate her Majesty's platinum jubilee this year Mary our oldest resident at 101, planted a tree for the Queens's Green Canopy

Staff and friends, including Michelle & Lynette who were treated to a 'royal wave' from Mary as the tree settled into its new home! The UK-wide tree planting initiative is inviting people to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”. We have uploaded our new tree to the QGC map for the world to see.

Thank you to our gardener Kathryn who prepared the plot for a Acer pseudoplatanus 'Brilliantissimum' tree

Mary's 101 birthday celebrations!

It was a very special day for Mary today! Celebrating her 101st birthday we all enjoyed the cards from the community, our staff, neighbours and friends. Megan our Community Champion at Morrisons was so generous with flowers, balloons and a hamper, two special friends who know Mary from her village came to see her in the visiting suite and we all loved the birthday cake. Afternoon tea for residents with the cakes was a treat as it tasted as good as it looks

BIG Barchester Xmas Quiz!

We’ve all had a challenging year so we wanted to ensure the festive celebrations for our residents and staff were an extra special treat. ‘Meeting up’ with the other homes virtually for our Barchester Big Quiz of the Year gave us all such a boost. We all had so much fun letting our hair down, everyone really enjoyed the afternoon.

OK we were not the winners but its the taking part which really matters!!

Picking the winning tickets!

Winning tickets for our Christmas hamper raffle were picked out today with lots of smiles from residents! All proceeds to Wessex Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre in Warminster so look out for an announcement of the total we raised from ticket sales

BIG thank you to everyone who so generously donated prizes for the raffle including our relatives, Megan Fear the Morrisons Community Champion and Tesco Express in Warminster

Residents and Debbie, our activities coordinator, made this fabulous festive frame last week and we have had so much fun posing for photos! The smiles say it all
