Activities at Henford House Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in, as well as visits from PAT dogs, musicians and entertainers. We also host evenings such as our cheese & wine nights, pub evening, quiz nights and special occasions such as, Guy Fawkes, Easter and Christmas where we like to encourage relatives to come to. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Henford House is fun and active.

Debbie Phillips

Activities Coordinator

I joined Henford House in March 2014; after five and a half years of domiciliary care, this position became available at Henford and I decided that it would be great to do more of the fun things in life with residents! It is great here at the home; we get along so well and truly have some laughs. Residents have a wide range of activities to participate in each week, including armchair exercises, bingo sessions, singalongs, musical entertainment, pottery, manicures, celebrations and much more. It is very rewarding knowing that people are grateful for the work I've done when I go. Working here has also given me the opportunity to gain my Level 2 NAPA certificate.

Sharandys Birds of Prey visit to Henford House

The residents at Henford House had a delightful afternoon with some adorable owls, the residents were able to observe, touch and learn about the different types of owl that Sharandys Birds of Prey brought in for us, the residents also watched a fantastic display in the lounge where one owl flew on demand around the lounge, and as a whole home approach some residents in their rooms welcomed a visit with the large owl called Barney!

Wessex MS Therapy Centre

Henford House general manager Charlie Osgood presented a cheque to Rosie Eliot at the Wessex MS Therapy Centre this week for £190 to help support this wonderful centre that is used by so many, the donation is part of the proceeds raised from Henford House’s summer garden party.

Garden Party

Henfords first garden party since covid took place in the gardens on Saturday 23rd July, the weather remained kind for the afternoon.  It was wonderful to see the gardens so busy again with everyone enjoying live music with the band- Big mama’s Bannned, BBQ, cream teas and many traditional stalls.  We are very grateful to all that attended to support this event, including raffle donations from local business’s.  The proceeds will be split between the Warminster MS Centre and the residents fund to raise money to be able to purchase a new kiln on site to support pottery each week.

Alpaca Adventure

The residents enjoyed our furry visitors, they were very well behaved and visited many residents in their rooms besides the lounge!

Caramac and Almond are only 1 years old and are new to visiting and dealt with going in a lift and walking up the corridors without any fuss.

Wendy who runs the Alpaca Adventure in Shaftsbury had visited Henford in the past with more mature Alpacas, so to bring these lovely young ones for us to see was truly wonderful.

Bastille Day

The residents enjoyed Bastille Day with a delicious French picnic in the garden while listening to some fabulous French tunes!
