Activities at Henford House Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in, as well as visits from PAT dogs, musicians and entertainers. We also host evenings such as our cheese & wine nights, pub evening, quiz nights and special occasions such as, Guy Fawkes, Easter and Christmas where we like to encourage relatives to come to. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Henford House is fun and active.

Debbie Phillips

Activities Coordinator

I joined Henford House in March 2014; after five and a half years of domiciliary care, this position became available at Henford and I decided that it would be great to do more of the fun things in life with residents! It is great here at the home; we get along so well and truly have some laughs. Residents have a wide range of activities to participate in each week, including armchair exercises, bingo sessions, singalongs, musical entertainment, pottery, manicures, celebrations and much more. It is very rewarding knowing that people are grateful for the work I've done when I go. Working here has also given me the opportunity to gain my Level 2 NAPA certificate.

Christmas at Henford House

The residents at Henford House had a fantastic festive Christmas and New Year enjoying a visit from Sharandys Birds of Prey, The Warminster Lions club Santa visit, Mr & Mrs Clause and Bubbles the Elf from Frome Grotto, and many sing-a-longs with all of the entertainers that have performed at Henford House over the years. The residents enjoyed getting creative with the Christmas cake  and The Gingerbread House for Barchester's competitions this year.

This Christmas has been the best at Henford as for the last two years, due to covid, there were many restrictions and this caused many cancellations for our entertainers so the residents raised the roof with singing Christmas carols on many days over the festive season.

Henford House Christmas Market

On Saturday 19th November, Henford House held its first Christmas Market since before covid.  There were many stalls with people selling their own incredible craft work and jams and chutneys including local stall holders from the country market.  The atmosphere was very warming and really felt like Christmas, many members of the general public filtered through the doors enjoying mulled wine with mince pies and tea and coffee spending their money generously on the stalls and Henfords Christmas raffle which all proceeds from the raffle will be donated to Julia’s House.

Afternoon Tea

The residents enjoyed high tea with our local MP Andrew Murrison, lots of delicious  sandwiches, cakes and scones were enjoyed whilst big conversations were discussed about many different topics, Andrew had visited Henford House some years ago and praised the home saying how lovely it was, General manager Charles Osgood was delighted to have our local MP come to visit the residents and see the home and has invited him to come again in the near future.

Happy Birthday!

We had many birthday celebrations last week including 2 celebrations on the same day! So the ladies enjoyed a birthday afternoon tea together!

World Alzheimer's Day

The sun was shining for World Alzheimer’s Day and Henford House was fundraising for this brilliant charity.

Staff residents and visitors had a lovely time in our beautiful, well kept garden's, enjoying cream teas, and buying cakes and raffle tickets to help raise money for this worthy cause
