Activities at Hempton Field Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Nina Mullerworth

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Nina and I have had the privilege of working at Hempton Field in my role as Activities Coordinator for over 15 years and I am looking forward to many more! I have enjoyed continually developing in the role with a variety of training courses, including a Level 2 NAPA and Aromatherapy Massage.

I love interacting with the residents and organising a varied programme of activities with a person-centred approach based on Barchester's Life Enrichment Programme of enhancing the wellbeing of mind, body and soul.  This includes ensuring residents can continue to enjoy hobbies, life experiences and keep active through exercise and music.  We are involved with local clubs and welcome in members of the community as well as a variety of outings in the minibus - these are always very popular!

Life at Hempton Field Care Home

Employee of the Month - January 2021

Louise is a young carer, relatively new to the Hempton Field team. She is credited with Employee of the Month in January 2021 for her teamwork and resilience.

Louise demonstrated what a skilled carer and team player she is during a secondment to our sister home at Chacombe Park in Banbury over the 8-weeks prior to Christmas 2020. Chacombe Park expressed what a pleasure it was to have Louise part of their team during this period.

Our General Manager at Hempton Field; Sharon noted that Louise never once complained about the early collection from Hempton Field to complete each night shift, or the 1 hour journey back from Chacombe to Hempton every morning. Sharon personally picked her up on all occasions, and found Louise to be a very pleasant and engaging young lady.

Louise came to the UK last year from South Africa with her partner leaving her family behind. It has been hard for Louise being unable to travel and visit her family, she's found the separation and lack of contact saddening, but she remains upbeat and is valued member of our team.

We hope she enjoys the adulation and gift. Keep up the great work, we’re very lucky to have you part the Barchester family.

Getting Ready for Valentines

We’re all getting in the mood for ‘love’… Today several of our ladies have been painting love hearts for our valentines display. Mabel, Elizabeth and Shirley were full of laughter and smiles during the art session. It was so wonderful, we can’t wait to see the final creation.

‘Above & Beyond’

For going ‘Above & Beyond’ we thank you!

Special Burns Night Supper

Chef excelled himself on Burns Night!

Our residents were treated to an extensive Scottish menu, starting with Cock-a-Leekie soup with oat-cakes, followed by the 'Address to the Haggis' which was served with egg. The main dish of pouched Scottish Salmon came with nips & taddies.

For desert chef created individual raspberry ‘Cranachan’ and a selection of cheese, biscuits and scones... a perfect end to a special Burns Night Supper!

National Cheese Lovers Day

National Cheese Lovers Day is a celebration of the many different types of cheese in the world. With the help of Nikki Muil who is the General Manager at Nettlebed Creamery, Henley the residents and staff at Hempton Field care home in Chinnor were treated to a variety of locally produced cheeses to enjoy.

Karen Forester who deals with all orders at the Creamery handed over an amazing selection of items to our activities coordinator Nina for our residents to enjoy alongside a spread of crackers, fresh fruit, wine and condiments.

Nettlebed Creamery provided us with lots of information on how each cheese had been created, we even learnt how to make own, and discovered new recipes to make the most of each verity.

Residents; Betty and George are both big cheese lovers and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. All our residents agreed the ‘Witheridge in Hay’ their favourite!  https://www.nettlebedcreamery.com/our.../witheridge-in-hay/

Big Thanks Nettlebed Creamery

National Hat Day

‘National Hat Day’ 15th January, 2021 became a very posh affair, our residents gathered together in one of our lovely lounges, dressed to the nines in their finest head gear. We brought out the best china, and chef produced some beautiful cakes. We were so pleased to be joined via zoom with friends of Hempton Field; it was such a wonderful day. John, our head of maintenance stole the show with his burger inspired beret!
