Activities at Hempton Field Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Nina Mullerworth

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Nina and I have had the privilege of working at Hempton Field in my role as Activities Coordinator for over 15 years and I am looking forward to many more! I have enjoyed continually developing in the role with a variety of training courses, including a Level 2 NAPA and Aromatherapy Massage.

I love interacting with the residents and organising a varied programme of activities with a person-centred approach based on Barchester's Life Enrichment Programme of enhancing the wellbeing of mind, body and soul.  This includes ensuring residents can continue to enjoy hobbies, life experiences and keep active through exercise and music.  We are involved with local clubs and welcome in members of the community as well as a variety of outings in the minibus - these are always very popular!

Life at Hempton Field Care Home

Hempton Field Scarecrow

Here is a picture of our 7 foot scarecrow that is going in the village this weekend for the scarecrow trail. He has caused lots of laughs, and residents have even named him Henry! They said they are sad to see him go, but hopefully he doesn’t get too blown and we can think about another outfit for him!. We have had lots of ideas!

BNF Healthy Eating Week

Our fantastic kitchen staff are enjoying taking on the challenge of  BNF Healthy Eating Week. Our residents here at Hempton Field have enjoyed some lovely food reflecting the theme.

We have enjoyed  wholegrain crackers, homemade pies made with wholemeal pastry, and healthy, fruity desserts.

At Hempton, we especially love the homemade soups served with a hot buttered homemade wholemeal roll, and a whole-wheat pasta dish! We are looking forward to tomorrow’s challenge!

Harvest Festival

Residents and staff at Hempton Field have been busy putting our Harvest Festival display together, with lots of painting, collage work, gluing and, of course, a variety of salt dough crafts!

The cook at Hempton field, Heather Coombes, enjoyed making a fantastic courgette, cheese and sundried tomato bread covered in seeds, whilst our lovely residents made a bread pudding, which brought back lots of fun memories!

We had a lovely lady in the village that made a variety of chutneys and jams for us. We are lucky to have a local flower farm nearby, where we purchased some flowers, and vegetables from our local farm shop.

Carnival Fun

At Hempton Field, residents and staff enjoyed a fun-themed carnival day with our daily exercises to steel band music, followed by a lovely lunch of Caribbean chicken, coconut rice and peas, mango and orange summer salad, sweet potato chips with baked banana with rum and cream, all washed down with a tasty rum cocktail.

National Fish & Chip Day

We enjoyed celebrating National Fish & Chip day with beach ball games, followed by sounds of the beach whilst enjoying traditional a fish and chip lunch, followed by ice cream cones and candy floss making!

We enjoyed a fun afternoon reminiscing about days gone by spent by the seaside! Residents agreed that this brought back some wonderful memories spent with family.

Balloon Race

Residents and staff enjoyed letting their balloons go in our balloon race on the 12th August. Attached to our balloons was a little note to say where they are from. We are hoping to have response letters to find out where they landed and see who’s balloon got the furthest! Everyone said this was such fun and just can’t wait to find out how far they got!
