Activities at Harper Fields Care Home

There is always something to do here at Harper Fields and always someone to assist the residents in any activity they wish to take part in. We have entertainers come into the home to sing and play instruments on a weekly basis, as well as visits from PAT dogs, hairdressers, massage therapists and nail technicians to pamper those who live here. Residents' spiritual needs are taken into account at Harper Fields; we have regular services from the Catholic and Methodist church, in addition to the Church of England, and for our non-religious residents, we have a weekly calming and peaceful ‘mindfulness and meditation group,’ which is very popular, especially for those living with dementia. Residents often like to attend cinema evenings to watch their favourite films on the big screen (complete with sweets and popcorn), or develop new skills at our computer classes, where they can learn how to Skype their families in other countries. Our activities are tailored to suit the individual interests and capabilities of residents and our specialised equipment enables those we support to enjoy everything we have to offer.

Time for a Cuppa

Time for a Cuppa

We helped to raise money for Dementia UK by having a cake sale. Our brilliant staff in the kitchen worked really hard to make lots of different cakes for everyone to choose from. We also had a £30 voucher donated by Morrisons that allowed us to buy fresh flowers, brownies and a freshly-made cream cakes with strawberries on.

Butterfly Farm

Butterfly Farm

We had a lovely day visit the butterfly farm in Stratford-Upon-Avon. Everybody really enjoyed seeing all the different colour butterflies and tropical flowers in the gardens. It was very relaxing listening to the water fall in the background.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day

What a great Valentine’s Day with the fabulous Paula Pinto, who came in to perform for residents. Everyone's spirits were high and we all had a good ol' sing and a dance along. We also enjoyed some refreshments and some heart shape cakes, which were made by our fabulous kitchen team.

Having some fun doing Pottery painting with Sue Cox. This month we painted some candle holders with hearts on as its valentine’s week. Everybody really enjoyed painting and are looking forward to her coming back again

Arts & Crafts

Arts & Crafts

We thought we would do something different for our most recent arts and crafts session; we painted some shire horse shoes, which we will then put on display around the home. The ladies were all very interested in the shoes, as they hadn't either seen or felt one before.

Remembrance Day

We have been doing lots of things in preparation for Remembrance Day here at Harper Fields. We started off with weeks of knitting poppies, which were pinned together to make a dress – and the results were fantastic!

We also did some pottery painting with Sue Cox, which the residents really enjoyed; and made a memory tree that's now on display in our reception area. All the messages for the tree were read out in our church service, and were lovely to hear. The service was very busy and the residents all enjoyed it.

In the afternoon, we had Beccie Marshall in, who performed wartimes songs that everyone sang along to.
