Activities at Hampton Grove Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Lisa May

Activities Coordinator

I started working for Barchester in October 2020. The team here at Hampton Grove have made me feel welcome. No day is ever the same here.

My varied daily activities and events help to create a stimulating engagement programme to enhance the quality of life for each resident within the home.

Kindness Cupcakes

Residents made some beautiful cupcakes and decorated them with rainbow coloured sprinkles, we later offered them to our neighbours as a friendly gesture for Mental Health Awareness Week, we hope they were scrummy!

Mental Health Awareness Week

This year’s theme for Mental Health Awareness Week was “Kindness” residents decided it would be “Kind” to offer something to the elderly in our community that are alone during these difficult times.

So we created some “Activity Packs” which included crosswords, word searches, reminiscence reading material, quizzes, a newsletter, pen, some little treats, a stamped postcode so that they could write to a loved one and an invitation for Afternoon Tea with us once were back to normal.

We made 26 packs in total and delivered them to a local sheltered home. We hope they bring as much joy to them as it did to us

A Spot of Sport

We felt energised after a sport session on the patio this morning, the session consisted of a variety of games including hoopla, balloon swatting, hula hooping and one of our favourites, the parachute!

Residents later enjoyed a well-earned cold drink and ice cream!

Showing Appeciation

Our team were delighted to receive a special thank you card and bracelet from Barchester as a token of appreciation for their hard work during this challenging period.

Clapping for Carers

Monica, our General Manager, and some of the team, raised a glass whilst clapping for carers!

Giant Kerplunk

We made a giant Kerplunk game for residents to enjoy! The aim of the game is to pull out the sticks that are holding the balls in place. The resident with the least amount of balls at the end of the game is the winner! Residents got very competitive!
