Activities at Four Hills Care Home

Our activity and lifestyle programme is arranged for all our residents to participate in and is updated regularly based on ideas from our residents group during our resident forum. Our Resident of the Day strategy ensures each person receives at least one day each month where the focus is all about them.

We have a monthly concert and to date this is appreciated and enjoyed by most residents. The Four Hills Taverns is open for business every Friday afternoon and is an area where residents and staff socialise, hold pub quizzes and partake in a little refreshment.

The team at Four Hills try hard to meet everyone's needs and encourage all residents and their families to join in the fun.

Four Hills Sports Day

To celebrate the Winter Olympics Four Hills hosted their own sports day and what a success it was!

Residents had a great time trying out new games and taking part in our sports themed quiz. Sadie was our overall winner, congratulations!

Valentine's treats with Veg for Life

We had a lovely time joining Chef Alex Connell from Vegetarian for Life for a Valentine’s-inspired virtual cookery demonstration.  Chef Alex created some delicious Valentine’s Day-inspired vegetarian desserts, which our residents had the opportunity to try too.

First, our residents sampled a wonderful sticky toffee pudding, which was absolutely heavenly. Then they tried hazelnut truffles which were a huge hit and finally they were treated to a chocolate orange cake which everyone adored.

Burns Night celebrations at Four Hills

Residents at Four Hills had a great day celebrating Burns Night.

To honour the famous Scottish poet, we hosted a poetry and music session to learn more about the Scottish Country Dancing and the Ceilidh and to mark the Scottish institution, including giving the time-honoured address to the ‘Great chieftain O’ the pudding’ race’ – the haggis.

Our tables were specially decorated with flowers and Scottish flags for the occasion as our residents enjoyed delicious Haggis, Neeps and Tatties followed by some delicious Dundee Cake prepared by our talented chef.

We all had a wonderful time celebrating the special day.

25years long service for Laundry Assistant

A Laundry Assistant at Four Hills in Glasgow has received a prestigious 25 Year Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for 25years.

Margaret Carty, Laundry Assistant started at Barchester in January 1997 and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.

Jane McFarlane, Employee Services Director at Barchester said: “I’m always pleased to hear stories about the long service of Barchester staff and am delighted Margaret has achieved this milestone. It is dedication like this that ensures our residents are provided with a happy place to live.”

Flower Power at Four Hills

This week we celebrated International Flower Day in style, a great way in mid-winter to bring joy and happiness into the home.

Our residents took part in flower-based activities throughout the day including a flower arranging session and virtual sessions on youtube which everyone really enjoyed.

The collective knowledge about flowers gained from years of gardening experience was very impressive.

It was a lovely day, enjoyed by all.

An afternoon of cards at Four Hill

Residents gave Eileen a run for her money this morning, and contrary to what Eileen says absolutely no residents were cheating!

They enjoyed a wee refreshment whilst Eileen tried to reshuffle the deck.
