Activities at Field House Care Home
The Activities Coordinators here at Field House are always keen to learn about residents' interests and hobbies, tailoring meaningful activities to the likes and dislikes of those we support. Our mission is to ignite the past, appeal to current interests and embrace new ones, improving quality of life whilst stimulating the mind and senses. Activities are carried out via small groups or individually, supported by local volunteers. We have access to a range of local community facilities and nearby places of interest, prompting community engagement, and hold special events at the home, where we are entertained by guest vocalists and performers, with 'The Quiz Master' being a fan favourite.
Caroline Davis
Hi, I'm Caroline and I joined Field House in 2021 from another Barchester home. I have worked in care for the last 30 years and a big part of that has been with Barchester.
Here at Field House, I organise a variety of activities and social events within the home and in the community, such as gardening club arts and crafts, weekly exercise sessions along with live singers and musicians every month. We are also keen on regular outings to local landmarks, museums, cafes and shopping centres.
In my job, I'm able to develop excellent relationships with residents and their families providing the support they need. I am very passionate about my job role as it is very important to us as a team that every individual is able to live the life they wish and feel fulfilled in their everyday activities maintaining past hobbies and finding new ones.

Life at Field House Care Home
Ascot Ladies Day
To celebrate two very special birthdays, we had an Ascot Ladies Day theme. We dressed in our best clothes and played Ascot-themed games. It was a really special, and a very memorable day for everyone.
FH Cup Final
We had our very own Cup Final here at Field House. We had a completely football-themed day; the lounge was decorated in football shirts, there was football trivia, table football, and then a game of indoor floor football to round it all off. It was great exercise and great fun!
Out & About Finally
The long awaited time has finally come when our residents can start getting out and about again. This is Molly going for her first walk with her daughter in over a year. These are moments that we will never take for granted again.
In Loving Memory
On Saturday 27th February, residents and staff completed their 101 laps in memory of Captain Tom Moore. The original date had to be postponed due to snow, but the new date felt pretty perfect, as it was the day of Captain Tom's funeral.
The residents and staff started at 10am and were able to complete 101 laps, all before the beginning of the funeral at 12pm. It was a huge achievement for all involved , and we are so very proud of what was achieved.
The residents put this plan into action to pay tribute after Captain Sir Tom passed away. They wanted to combine it with some fundraising for the local Church Stretton First Responders.
St David's Day
We spent the morning learning about St David, the history behind his legacy and wearing silly Welsh dragon hats whilst we did it.
Did you know that St David commissioned an extension onto Glastonbury Abbey with a sapphire alter, which was confiscated by Henry VIII a thousand years later?
Read Aloud
For World Read Aloud Day this year, the residents participated in a Facebook Live Event, where they read children’s stories to young children at home. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all of the residents that participated, and the feedback from people who watched was very positive. It has even motivated one of our residents to want to do a weekly storytime session online, so watch this space!
