Ottley House Care Home
Ottley House Care Home in Shrewsbury
Purpose-built Ottley House is situated on the outskirts of the historic town of Shrewsbury, close to the Welsh border. Ottley House is in a semi-rural location but within easy reach of Chester, Birmingham and the Welsh coast.
Here at Ottley House we recognise that every individual is unique, and each person will require different kinds of care. Our services include 24-hour nursing care, as well as specialist dementia care all provided bespoke to each person, depending on their individual care needs.
Our expert dementia care is provided in a dedicated part of our home we call the Memory Lane Community which incorporates thoughtful interior design features in the use of colour and cues to help residents living with dementia navigate safely and independently through the home, whilst enjoying moments of reminiscence.
At Ottley House, we provide a varied life enrichment programme full of social events and individual hobbies, so there is always something to do and look forward to. Created to empower our residents by cultivating their personal interests, residents can enjoy activities including exercise, arts and crafts, baking, gardening, music, films and many more. Our home also has its own minibus to take residents on regular outings to various attractions within the area such as local garden centres and parks.
The dining at Ottley House is varied and all prepared fresh on the premises by our excellent team of chefs, ensuring that residents' needs are met with seasonal, nutritious dishes, and that the resident’s favourite foods are always on the menu.

Davina McLoughlin
Hi, my name is Davina and I am the General Manager here at Ottley House. I hope you find what you're looking for on our website.
I started my career in care at Ottley House more than twenty years ago. At that time I worked in several areas which were a carer, senior carer and activities organiser. I was encouraged to pursue my passion and to follow my dream which was to become a Registered Nurse.
I thoroughly enjoyed my nurse training and was lucky enough to work along side some amazing people. On successful completion of my nurse training I decided to focus on orthopaedic nursing. I have previously worked as a ward Sister. This gave me the opportunity to develop my clinical and managerial skills where I was able to develop and guide a team of nurses. I specialised in nursing people with spinal injuries and people requiring hip and knee surgery.
I felt that my time on the ward was a great experience and gave me the correct skill sets to achieve my real passion which was to work within a nursing home. The opportunity arose to return to Ottley House Care Home as the Deputy Manager. This was an opportunity that I just had to take. I have been in post at Ottley House now since May 2015 as the Deputy Manager and was promoted to General Manager in 2017. I take great pride in my position and aim to deliver high quality nursing care to the residents who live at the home.
