Field House Care Home in Shropshire

Situated in rural Shropshire and close to the local amenities of Church Stretton, Field House provides residential care in a home-from-home environment, with great gardens and good public transport links.

Field House is a small and friendly home providing services for frail older people, for people with disabilities and for people with sensory impairments. Links with local services are strong, so visits from GPs, district nurses, dieticians, physiotherapists and chiropodists are easily arranged.

Snacks and drinks are easily accessible throughout the home and there is a kitchenette where people are encouraged to make their own drinks.

Please get in touch with us if you would like help, advice or to look around.

Our Team

The dedicated and experienced team are passionate about providing quality care to each individual living at the home.

Becky Oakes

Acting General Manager

Hi, my name is Becky and I am the Deputy Manager acting as General Manager of Field House. Welcome to our website!

I joined Field House in July 2018 as the Head of Care. The residents and staff have been very welcoming and I have enjoyed getting to know everyone! Field House is such a lovely place to work and I look forward to a lasting career within the home.

I have worked in the health and social care sector for over 20 years and I still thoroughly enjoy learning new things every day; no two days are the same in this line of work. I started my working career in 1997 in a small residential home in Shrewsbury, moving on to work with adults with learning disabilities, and then working on an ambulance, before returning to residential care.

Siân Mann

Home Administrator

Having joined Field House in 2014 as the Home Administrator, I have enjoyed every day since. My responsibilities involve ensuring that the contractual, financial and operational elements of the home are in order. However, no two days are the same here, and the interaction I am privileged to have with residents makes for a very family-orientated atmosphere. The ‘home from home’ environment we have created, and continue to develop, makes us truly unique.

This is my first role in the care sector, but I have worked in customer service, healthcare and administrative environments since leaving university, where I achieved a 2:1 BA Honours degree in History. Since joining Barchester, I have achieved a Level 3 NVQ in Business Administration, which has enabled me to support residents and their loved ones in making the transition to living in a care setting a smooth one.

Prior to working at Field House, I was employed at the pharmacy the home used, and became immediately aware of the extra mile the staff here go to for residents. This kindled my wish to join the team as soon as possible.

Outside of work I am a keen gardener – gaining my green fingers and customer focus working at David Austin Roses for over seven years; I also love cooking, going for walks around the Longmynd and Shropshire, reading and tackling a bit of DIY at home (with mixed success).

Sonia Mora

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Sonia, and I’m the Activities Coordinator here at Field House. I used to live over in Barcelona and I can speak 4 languages: Catalan, Spanish, English and Italian. I feel that I can bring a certain uniqueness to Field House.

My aim is to organize and provide a varied and appropriate programme of activities based around residents' needs and desires, using previous interests, past times and the undertaking of new experiences to create person-centered activity planning and stimulation for all residents who live at Field House.

Field house is so homely and I’ve been made to feel welcome from my very first day, with residents particularly interested in the different languages I can speak.

Before starting at Field House, I used to work at the Academy of Medical Sciences of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, where I was the Hostess of events and medical conferences.

Matthew Roberts

Head Chef

I joined Barchester as a Chef in another sister home back in 2012, where I worked on developing my skills. The experience there provided me with valuable insight into catering within the care industry. Now that I am the Head Chef at Field House, my role involves providing 5 star courses that are nutritious, with a fine dining experience for everyone we support.

My menus are created with the help of residents; we hold regular meetings to discuss the new seasonal changes to meals and what they’d love to see and enjoy.

I only use locally sourced ingredients and enjoy creating new and appetizing dishes that reflect the likes and dislikes of those who live here.
