Activities at Field House Care Home

The Activities Coordinators here at Field House are always keen to learn about residents' interests and hobbies, tailoring meaningful activities to the likes and dislikes of those we support. Our mission is to ignite the past, appeal to current interests and embrace new ones, improving quality of life whilst stimulating the mind and senses. Activities are carried out via small groups or individually, supported by local volunteers. We have access to a range of local community facilities and nearby places of interest, prompting community engagement, and hold special events at the home, where we are entertained by guest vocalists and performers, with 'The Quiz Master' being a fan favourite.

Caroline Davis

Activities Coordinator

Hi, I'm Caroline and I joined Field House in 2021 from another Barchester home. I have worked in care for the last 30 years and a big part of that has been with Barchester.

Here at Field House, I organise a variety of activities and social events within the home and in the community, such as gardening club arts and crafts, weekly exercise sessions along with live singers and musicians every month. We are also keen on regular outings to local landmarks, museums, cafes and shopping centres.

In my job, I'm able to develop excellent relationships with residents and their families providing the support they need. I am very passionate about my job role as it is very important to us as a team that every individual is able to live the life they wish and feel fulfilled in their everyday activities maintaining past hobbies and finding new ones.

Christmas Concert

This was our first session with our professional music teacher who will be preparing us for our Christmas concert. Each person sang along to the music, contributed to the song writing as we attempted to start compiling the making of our own Christmas song; and input their feelings on what songs we should be choosing for the concert. Everyone was smiling and engaged; it was a beautiful session to witness and thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.

Quiet Contemplation

Sometimes you have to hit reset by checking in with the past and reminding yourself of all the special meaningful moments. John used to be a reader at this church. Today, he went back to take a moment of quiet contemplation and leave his prayers with his God.

Beside the Seaside

We took to the beach for some sea air, and quiet tranquillity of the beach. We watched the boats and ate chips on the seashore, and it would be fair to say that the tonic of this few moments away was exactly what was needed.

Green Fingers

June brings warm weather, and in turn some lovely gardening activities. We’ve been potting on all of our tomatoes and squashes.

National Apple Turnover Day

National Apple Turnover Day at Field House can only mean one thing: we baked! We thoroughly enjoyed all of the aspects of baking these apple turnovers, especially the rolling, folding the painting of the egg wash, the smell of them cooking and, obviously, the taste of them at the end!

Virtual Skittles

Over the past six weeks Field House has been hosting a virtual skittles tournament between eight different homes from across the country. Each week, the teams would play against one another using Zoom, until in the end there was only one winner.

Congratulations to Harper Fields, in Coventry, for an outstanding performance. The event was so popular that it has inspired the Field House Virtual Olympics, which will begin in August.
