Activities at Crandon Springs Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Katherine Cork

Activities Assistant

Hello, my name is Kath and I’m the Activities Assistant here at Crandon Springs.

As part of the Activities and lifestyle enrichment team, I help in organising our daily activities, ensuring that all of our residents have a variety of activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives by providing meaningful and engaging activities and, having been both a teacher and care assistant in the past, have a wealth of experience behind me. You'll rarely find me without a smile and I'm very family orientated, and I love how both the residents' and colleagues Crandon Springs feel like a second family to me!

The Big Wells Christmas Quiz!

The Big Wells Christmas Quiz was a success!

Thank you to everyone that attended and congratulations to Josh Spencer for achieving 21/25! We had a real range of attendees from in and around Wells, thank you to Rockers and Rollers Day Nursery for the pre school and toddlers team, we had Siobhan representing The Bishop's Palace Julie from Simply POA and several members of the community.

Keep an eye on our Facebook page for more community events in the new year.

Thank you all.

Wreath Making Course

Today we held our wreath making course and it was outstanding. Thank you so much to Jennifer Owen at Goldfinch Floral Studio for supporting our vision and really advertising the event alongside ourselves.

We wanted to give a taster of the types of life enriching activities we will get up to here at Crandon Springs whilst supporting local businesses and involving the local community. Ourselves and Jennifer have a lot of ideas pending for the seasons ahead so watch this space.

Crandon Springs Donates 200 Mince Pies to The Lawrence Centre

Barchester’s newly built care home Crandon Springs, in Wells wanted to spread the Christmas cheer and give back to the local community. The home acknowledges that a lot of local festive events have been cancelled and wanted a way to spread the festive cheer.

The colleagues at Crandon Springs’ decided to donate and personalise near on 200 mince pies for the Lawrence Centre. The Lawrence Centre support members of the community by providing day opportunities for older people including those living with memory loss and health issues.

Build Update

A significant day today - our grounds have been turfed! We are extremely fortunate to have 32 bedrooms with patio doors leading to landscaped gardens at our home. After a lot of wet weather we have began turfing our garden! Our south facing gardens will include raised beds for plants, a boules pitch and pergola area for shaded seating. Our marketing suite is open for appointments if you would like a home tour.

Marketing Suite is now open!

Crandon Springs is proud to open its marketing suite doors to the public as of the 9th of November 2020.

We would love to - safely - invite as many of our neighbours and potential residents into our marketing suite to get a flavour of our home. We are only accepting pre-booked appointments.

Our home is opening to residents in spring 2021. Our home will specialise in the highest quality residential, dementia and respite care. For more information or to have a look around please email crandonsprings@barchester.com or call 07435553790.

Remembrance cards for the next generation.

The team at Barchester’s newly built care home, Crandon Springs in Wells, wanted to pay respect and engage with the local community for Remembrance Day this Sunday. The home acknowledges that a lot of local events have been cancelled and wanted a way to raise awareness safely.

The colleagues at Crandon Springs’ created a poster for the local community and young children to customise themselves. The poster featured poppies and quoted “Lest we forget” to raise awareness. The children at Rockers and Rockers of Glastonbury Road received the posters and local children enjoyed learning about the history whilst getting creative.

Home Service Advisor, Bethany Chattwood said “We work closely with the local community and felt it was such a misfortune that we couldn’t support any local remembrance events due to government guidelines. Our home created a way to educate the younger generation on such an important part of our history whilst still allowing them to get creative”

We are welcoming new residents into our homes to ensure that we are there for those that need care and support, and have a very clear admission policy and infection control protocols that must be met. Please do give us a call on 01749 302592 if you are looking for care or need any further help.
