Activities at Cheshire Grange Care Home

The activities team are constantly striving to meet the varied needs of everyone who lives in our home, offering a wide range of group and individual social events. There are regular visits from entertainers, along with craft activities, baking, games & puzzle days and pampering sessions, which fill the week. However, we can always find time for outings and just spending that little bit of special time with residents who enjoy the peace and quiet. We aim to bring the activities to the individual, whilst making it a whole home experience.

Jo Eland

Activities Coordinator

After originally starting at Cheshire Grange in May 2015, I'm delighted to be back in the role of Activities Coordinator. It is a privilege to be in this role and spend time, getting to know our ladies and gentleman and their loved one, whilst doing all the fun things that can make such a difference to their days.

Life at Cheshire Grange Care Home

We Will Remember

It was with great pride that we welcomed members of Thelwall Royal British Legion to lead our Armistice Day service, along with a bugler who played the Last Post, before the two minute silence. Residents from both communities laid poppy wreaths and family members read poems.

Bonfire Night

Residents, families and friends, along with staff and their children, enjoyed a gentle firework display on a beautiful dry evening, followed by hot chocolate and homemade parking.

Happy Halloween

We celebrated Halloween by having a Children’s Fancy Dress Party, we invited staff members, children and residents' grandchildren and great grandchildren to join in the fun, including Musical Scary Faces, Pass the Parcel and Musical Goosebumps.

The residents enjoyed seeing the children in their costumes and watching them play their games. The children had a great time and enjoyed tucking into their Halloween feast.

Charity Fundraising Streak

It’s been a busy few weeks here at Cheshire Grange with lots of charity events taking place, our first event was a MacMillan Coffee Afternoon which raised £62.00.

We followed this up with a Memory Walk for The Alzheimer’s Society, staff took part in a sponsored walk around the local village before returning and taking residents around the meadow paths, we made over £100 from this event.

We then Wore It Pink with the finale of the day being a ‘Brave The Shave’ by our Activities Coordinator, over £250 has been collected to help the charity.

Bring Me Sunshine , Bring Me Sunshine

Bring Me Sunshine

We are very excited about our new Bring Me Sunshine initiative, and it was a true delight to bring our first official sunshine moment to one of our ladies, who will be celebrating her 99th birthday later this year.

She has always spoken with great affection of a church that her childhood home backed on to, with a little help from her daughter, a few emails and a phone call later the visit was arranged.

There were moments of great reflection, but as the memories came flooding back there were a great many smile too. The visit was made extra special by finding the entry in the marriage register from 1943.
