Activities at Cheshire Grange Care Home

The activities team are constantly striving to meet the varied needs of everyone who lives in our home, offering a wide range of group and individual social events. There are regular visits from entertainers, along with craft activities, baking, games & puzzle days and pampering sessions, which fill the week. However, we can always find time for outings and just spending that little bit of special time with residents who enjoy the peace and quiet. We aim to bring the activities to the individual, whilst making it a whole home experience.

This month to celebrate her birthday we were showcasing the work of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, residents were enthralled by the bright colours and bold style and couldn’t wait to put brush to paper, the result were very impressive. Ladies and gents from all communities were involved and the finished pieces will be saved for our pop up gallery towards the end of the year.

An afternoon at the Opera

Our homes had a fabulous time with the talented soprano Astrid Joos from Street Theatre.  Astrid spoke about a selection of famous operas and our residents were treated to performances of wonderful arias from operas well-known to all, such as ‘Giuditta’, ‘Don Giovanni’ and ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’.

It was a lovely experience, truly enjoyed by all.

A musical journey to the fifties

There was a party atmosphere today as Deborah from Musical Delights took us on a musical journey through the fifties. The ladies and gents from all communities joined in with songs from Connie Francis, Elvis and Doris Day to name a few, there was a lot of singing and hand jiving. Margaret spoke on behalf of all the residents when she thanked Deborah for a fantastic afternoon.

Dr Tim Howard discusses book

Residents across our homes had a lovely time joining Dr Tim Howard, 4th generation GP, whose whole life has been about patient care, for an exciting virtual event to discuss his novel ‘Let’s Kill All The Lawyers’.

The novel is a medical fiction thriller that explores the impact of life and death events, mistakes and forgiveness, and the impact of law and justice on the day- to-day lives of ordinary people doing their best in difficult circumstances.

Residents had the chance to ask their own questions once the discussion was over and a great time was had by all.

Just passing through

Our residents across our homes had a lovely time joining Daniel Snowman, for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘Just Passing Through’.

Author of over a dozen books, Daniel Snowman’s long and active life has led him to interact in countless ways with the wider world and with some of its most famous inhabitants. His memoir evokes these experiences via a series of vivid literary vignettes.

Our residents found the talk very intriguing and informative, and were happy to learn more about Daniel’s experiences around the world.  A great time was had by all.
