Activities at Cheshire Grange Care Home

The activities team are constantly striving to meet the varied needs of everyone who lives in our home, offering a wide range of group and individual social events. There are regular visits from entertainers, along with craft activities, baking, games & puzzle days and pampering sessions, which fill the week. However, we can always find time for outings and just spending that little bit of special time with residents who enjoy the peace and quiet. We aim to bring the activities to the individual, whilst making it a whole home experience.

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Cheshire Grange Care Home

Historic Hendon

Across our services we had a lovely time joining Rhiannon Watkinson from the RAF Museum London for an interactive talk exploring the exciting and innovative aviation history of Hendon.

Our residents were able to learn about the first flights from the fields at Hendon, the creation of the London Aerodrome and Battle of Britain pilots who flew from RAF Hendon.

The talk also included photographic and film material from the Museum’s archive. Residents across our homes had a fantastic time and we truly enjoyed the virtual experience.

Art Historian virtual talk

Residents across our services had a delightful time during a special virtual sensory storytelling event, led by Art Historian Jon Sleigh from the Historic Royal Palaces.

Jon took us on a journey to discover some of the more unusual and unexpected inhabitants of the palaces and the Tower of London, sharing fascinating stories about the pets at the palaces.

Whilst enjoying the virtual experience, our residents were treated to hot beverages, delicious biscuits, berries and cakes.  It was a truly lovely time for all.

An afternoon of music from Sandra

“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything.” – Plato

We do wonder if Plato has been at Cheshire Grange for an afternoon of music with one of our amazing entertainers!!! His quote definitely sums up our afternoon of music, song and dance with visiting singer Sandra Currie, who has been bringing joy to Cheshire Grange for many years.

Residents react very differently to our entertainers shows, some, sing, some dance and some sit quietly letting the music wrap around them, how ever somebody chooses to feel the music, it’s evident that spirits soar.

Blooming Lovely

The simple task of arranging a vase of flowers can bring so much joy, the smiles were as bright as the flowers.

Flower arranging is just one of the activities that is a regular part of our weekly schedules, created by the activities team, based on residents’ interests and passions, which is displayed throughout the home and handed to our residents so that they can plan their week? We love organising and planning activities, bringing variety and choice to our residents from pampering to mini bus trips, singers to garden walks… we aim to offer something for everyone.

Let The Games Commence

After a busy weekend King Charles III dropped in at Cheshire Grange to join the residents for some games, including quoits, polo & croquet. His Majesty had quite a competitive streak in him but was no match for the Memory Lane Ladies, who especially enjoyed the polo saying it was like playing hockey at school.

Coronation celebrations at Cheshire Grange

It’s not every day that you get to celebrate your monarch’s coronation and the team at Cheshire Grange in Lymm wanted to make it the build-up and not just the day special for the residents.

Staff and residents at the home put their heads together and came up with a plan for their celebrations fit for a King. There was lots of arts & crafts, making decorations for the home including, what seemed like miles of bunting which the homes Sewing Club helped to make. The whole home came together to celebrate our new King and talk about the new era the country is entering along with memories of the Queen’s Coronation including an interview with Lymm Radio
