Activities at Bloomfield Care Centre

We host a wide range of activities and events here for residents to stimulate them both physically and mentally. Relatives can often be found taking part; for example, they will some times join us on minibus trips and to enjoy entertainers and musical events. There is regular involvement from the local community, with ministers holding services for us weekly, visits from our PAT dog, and a good volunteer network. Additionally, we have recently opened a Dementia Café, which is held on the fourth Tuesday of every month. Activities are an essential part of residents' lives, so we strive to keep them active with a focus on what they can achieve and that life here is fun.

Cathy Jallow

Activities Coordinator

Hello, My name is Cathy and I am the Activities Coordinator at Bloomfield care centre.

I joined the team here at Bloomfield in August 2017 as carer and have since moved into Activities.

The Activities role is varied and one which allows me to plan amazing activities for our residents to ensure their days are filled with lots of fun, laughter and social interaction.

I am always looking for new activity ideas as well as new places to visit, so please give me a call to discuss our life enrichment programme further.

May Day Celebrations

May Day Celebrations

Residents in our Memory Lane community enjoyed May Day celebrations, which included a maypole dance that was hosted by Lauren from Golden Toes.

Dementia Friends

Dementia Friends

On Thursday 28th March, Bloomfield hosted a Dementia Friends session. The community was invited to attend in order to raise awareness of the challenges someone faces within their journey with dementia.

We really want to make our community more dementia-friendly, and it is important that awareness around the challenges people and their loved ones face is raised.

Mother's Day

Bloomfield held a Mother's Day event, and it was a huge success! We were visited by local school children and members of the community, who all joined in with the celebrations. Senior Care Assistant, Gillian Peppard, crotched floral broaches for all the ladies, and local church members made posies of flowers that were distributed by the kids.

Farewell, Wendy

Farewell, Wendy

We bid Wendy Curtis a sad farewell as she retired after 27 years on the domestic team. General manager, Damon Drummond, wished Wendy all the very best as she begins her new adventure.

Crufts Cake Sale

Crufts Cake Sale

Bloomfield celebrated Crufts with a visit from Misty the PAT dog and her owner own, Spike, to raise awareness for the wonderful work they do. We hosted a cake sale on the day and a raffle to raise funds for the charity Pets as Therapy. The amount raised is unknown at this stage, as the raffle is ongoing.
