Activities at Bloomfield Care Centre

We host a wide range of activities and events here for residents to stimulate them both physically and mentally. Relatives can often be found taking part; for example, they will some times join us on minibus trips and to enjoy entertainers and musical events. There is regular involvement from the local community, with ministers holding services for us weekly, visits from our PAT dog, and a good volunteer network. Additionally, we have recently opened a Dementia Café, which is held on the fourth Tuesday of every month. Activities are an essential part of residents' lives, so we strive to keep them active with a focus on what they can achieve and that life here is fun.

Cathy Jallow

Activities Coordinator

Hello, My name is Cathy and I am the Activities Coordinator at Bloomfield care centre.

I joined the team here at Bloomfield in August 2017 as carer and have since moved into Activities.

The Activities role is varied and one which allows me to plan amazing activities for our residents to ensure their days are filled with lots of fun, laughter and social interaction.

I am always looking for new activity ideas as well as new places to visit, so please give me a call to discuss our life enrichment programme further.

Life at Bloomfield Care Centre

Spring Sunshine

Residents at Bloomfield recently enjoyed the spring time sunshine in the garden. Whilst practicing safe distancing, refreshments were served while Activities Coordinators at the home supported the residents by playing ball games to improve physicality and well-being.

In these unprecedented times, providing a range of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities for our residents is more important than ever. Our residents really enjoyed the activity and fun was had by all. Our varied life enrichment programme for residents includes ways to stay in contact with relatives digitally, such as through Skype, and we have new ways to keep residents active, whilst ensuring that the group activities are smaller, adhering to social distancing advice.

Arts & Crafts

Arts and Crafts are enjoyed thoroughly at Bloomfield, some of our residents enjoy colour therapy which focusses the mind. Accompanied with a cup of tea and a piece of home baked cake- what could be better!

Trip to Chew Valley lake

Residents and the team enjoyed a minibus trip to Chew Valley lake, the rain had stopped for the afternoon and it was a really enjoyable afternoon. After a walk around the lake a cup of tea and piece of cake was enjoyed in the café!

Love is in the air

Love was well and truly in the air at Bloomfield on Valentine's Day, we invited in the local community to enjoy us for a special Valentine's Day lunch and to enjoy our guest musician Ray Jones.

Jazz & Gin

Residents, family members and the team at Bloomfield enjoyed an evening of jazz and gin! Julie our fantastic music therapist entertained visitors and residents with her soulful jazz playing. This was accompanied by gin tasting and a variety of delicious canapes freshly made by our kitchen.

History Talk with Cheese and Wine

Nick Hall Trustee of Radstock Museum kindly came and gave us a history talk at Bloomfield. We enjoyed the talk whilst eating cheese and wine. A great afternoon was had by all!
