Activities at Beaufort Grange Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Life at Beaufort Grange Care Home
Mother's Day
For Mother's Day, our residents painted some flowers, including daffodils, followed by a gin and tonic afternoon! Different tastes included rose lemonade, rhubarb, ginger and lemon. Everyone had a fabulous time!
Celtic Nations Afternoon
We all celebrated the 6 Celtic Nations. We all learnt some words and the signification of the flags. The celebration included food: Breton biscuits, shortbread and scones and alcohol-free Guinness. It was then followed by some online performances, including dances, choir and singing and pipe bands.
International Women's Day
We celebrated International Women’s Day on 8th March with some beautiful displays and stimulating conversation. Having lots of flowers was a must.
The ladies were pleasantly surprised to find beautiful cards on their tables at lunch time with the message ‘Happy Women’s Day!’, but perhaps the warmest moment came with a poem read by one of our male residents during the afternoon activities session. The mood was stimulated further by some fine pieces of classical music.
We talked about the background to International Women’s Day and watched a short video about it on YouTube. The ladies knowledge of its history was limited and they showed serious interest in learning more about it, including the period of time when women’s influence in social and political life was developing, backed by their demand for equal rights with men.
Valentine's Day
Residents painted some beautiful hearts for Valentine's Day.
Word Games
We have been enjoying one of the simplest yet most stimulating and social games in our activities schedule, the time-honoured Scrabble. S
Settled comfortably in the lounge, residents have exercised their minds and derived satisfaction from their word creations, while enjoying each other's company and chatting as they went.
But, of course, no one was giving anything away when it came to the words they were thinking up!
Bounce
A very traditional game has become a popular part of our morning activities – table tennis. A few of our ladies have really taken to it, knocking the ball back and forth while either standing or seated.
It brings fun, laughs and, if anyone wants it, a bit of competitive action. The enjoyment extends to audiences, too. Whenever the ping pong table is set up in the lounge, there are always some onlookers to enjoy the heroics of the lady players!
