Activities at Awel-Y-Mor Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Jo & Julie
Awel-Y-Mor's activities team consists of three Activities Coordinators, each having a specialist unique role within the group, including work in the multi-sensory concept, as well as organising days out, trips to sporting events and pop concerts, and arranging themed days. Jo has been with us for over ten years, beginning her Barchester career as a Carer, and Julie joined us in 2018.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Awel-Y-Mor Care Home
Cwmdonkin Park
Residents enjoyed the sunshine when they visited Cwmdonkin Park, where they followed the Dylan Thomas trail and had a picnic on the green.
Penderyn Distillary
Two residents from Awel-Y-Mor enjoyed themselves when they went to Penderyn Distillary to see how the whiskey was made and how it tasted.
Preparing for Easter
Residents had a great time making cakes for our coffee morning and their own Easter hats for the Easter parade and competition.
Red Nose Day
We began our Rose Nose Day with a coffee morning. Staff and residents were in costumes, and staff member, Gary, was brave enough to let his wife wax his legs.
National Pie Week
Residents from Awel-Y-Mor had fun baking pies for National Pie Week, which we did during our Friday coffee morning. Everyone thought it was a nice change of pace.
St David's Day
Residents from Awel-Y-Mor, their loved ones and staff had fun celebrating St. David’s Day with our coffee morning and listening to Welsh music.
