Activities at Ashby House Care Home

Activities at Ashby House

Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to enrich peoples lives here at Ashby House. We stimulate people both physically and mentally by organising fun filled, group and individual activities to promote the well-being of those we support.

There are regular outings in our very own minibus and visits from PAT dog therapists, church services, musicians, dancers, and local school children. We also have our very own 'Good Life' gardening club, where we grow our own produce, which we then use in our cooking club. We also host weekly bingo sessions which are proving very popular and are growing in numbers.

Charlotte Arbon

Activities Coordinator

I joined Ashby House in April 2022, I thoroughly enjoy my role as Activities coordinator and love coming to work and having chats with the residents and families.

I listen to the residents and learn about their interest and support them to be involved with activities.  When I am not at work not at work I love spending time with my family playing board games.

We would love to have new ideas, if you have a skill you would like to share or would like to be involved with activities please email us at ashbyhouse.activities@barchester.com

February Birthdays

We had many birthdays at Ashby House in February, Gwen and Glennis celebrated theirs in style. Glennis had a lovely family bedroom visit on her birthday and had a lovely bouquet of flowers and cards bought in for her.

Gwen had an intimate birthday party with some of the residents from her community on hers, they each had wonderful freshly made birthday cake by our Head Chef and staff sung them both happy birthday, both ladies really enjoyed their special day.

Valentine’s Day Tea Party

Residents at Ashby House celebrated Valentine’s Day with a themed tea party, our dining room was decorated nicely, with love songs playing in the background and a traditional afternoon tea to enjoy.

But the star attraction of  this tea party was our chocolate fountain, we had fresh strawberries and bananas for dipping and our residents really enjoyed this chocolate sensation!

Christmas Day at Ashby House!

What an amazing day we all had on Christmas Day here at Ashby House.

The chef had a wonderful festive menu for all to enjoy, a choice of either a Turkey dinner with all the trimmings or a Salmon dinner with all the trimmings, lovely starters and mouth-watering desserts all washed down by a tipple of your favourite drink!  With Christmas music playing throughout the home all morning we excitedly unwrapped all of our presents from our loved ones.

Christmas movies and games were enjoyed all afternoon by staff and residents.

Christmas Jumper Day

A festive day here at Ashby House where the residents wore their amazing Christmas Jumpers whilst sampling the yummy Christmas jumper biscuits that the fantastic Activity Team made for this special event. The residents loved wearing their Christmas jumpers and were really excited for the big day arriving.

Festive visit from petite ponies

We had a special visit from  ‘Jonnie’ a Petite Shetland Pony this month at Ashby House.

The residents and staff were delighted to have the chance to say hello to this Petite Pony and give him a brush.

This kind Pet Therapy event is important for our residents wellbeing and this really came across when some of our residents responded to seeing Jonnie with tears of joy and happiness.

Christmas fete

We held a Christmas Fete for the residents and the local community, with attractions such as a Festive Photo Booth, Stalls from local businesses, and Festive games with Christmas songs playing in the background.  Many of the local community and relatives of our residents came to enjoy this event and enjoyed the festive atmosphere and refreshments such as Prosecco and mince pies.

They also bought raffle tickets for our Christmas raffle and goods such as reindeer food cones, hot chocolate cones and xmas sweet selection cones and Christmas marmalade with all profits going into our Ashby House residents fund.
