Activities at Ashby House Care Home

Activities at Ashby House

Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to enrich peoples lives here at Ashby House. We stimulate people both physically and mentally by organising fun filled, group and individual activities to promote the well-being of those we support.

There are regular outings in our very own minibus and visits from PAT dog therapists, church services, musicians, dancers, and local school children. We also have our very own 'Good Life' gardening club, where we grow our own produce, which we then use in our cooking club. We also host weekly bingo sessions which are proving very popular and are growing in numbers.

Charlotte Arbon

Activities Coordinator

I joined Ashby House in April 2022, I thoroughly enjoy my role as Activities coordinator and love coming to work and having chats with the residents and families.

I listen to the residents and learn about their interest and support them to be involved with activities.  When I am not at work not at work I love spending time with my family playing board games.

We would love to have new ideas, if you have a skill you would like to share or would like to be involved with activities please email us at ashbyhouse.activities@barchester.com

Retro Sweet trolley

We set up our activity trolley with some old fashioned jars of sweets, taking our residents back to their childhoods and when they bought the very same sweets for families. We had sweets such as strawberry Bonbons, Lemon Sherbet’s, Jelly babies, chocolate mice, wine gums and many more. Needless to say that our residents loved the retro sweets and we will defiantly be doing this themed trolley again in the future!

Time for a Cuppa!

We held a Time for a Cuppa coffee afternoon here at Ashby House in May, raising money for Dementia UK. We had such fun, with friends and family joining our resident’s and staff for this fun filled event. We had live entertainment “Fiona Harrison” singing a wonderful VE Day show for us all, and we also had our dining room set up with a wonderful selection of cakes along with teas and coffees. Everyone enjoyed the singalong and everyone enjoyed the refreshments afterwards, such a lovely afternoon for such a good cause.

Gardening Club

This April we started our ever popular Gardening Club again after a winter break. We have been enjoying it by starting sowing seeds for a butterfly garden, planting some seasonal plants in some pots and cleaning up and filling our bird feeders.

Easter

This Easter at Ashby House we have been busy with a lot of fun activities, enjoyed many yummy Easter Treats and decorated our home for the occasion with bunting and fresh flowers. We had Hot Cross buns on Good Friday and a lovely donation of Daffodils from a local supermarket to brighten up our home also.
