Activities at Ashby House Care Home

Activities at Ashby House

Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to enrich peoples lives here at Ashby House. We stimulate people both physically and mentally by organising fun filled, group and individual activities to promote the well-being of those we support.

There are regular outings in our very own minibus and visits from PAT dog therapists, church services, musicians, dancers, and local school children. We also have our very own 'Good Life' gardening club, where we grow our own produce, which we then use in our cooking club. We also host weekly bingo sessions which are proving very popular and are growing in numbers.

Charlotte Arbon

Activities Coordinator

I joined Ashby House in April 2022, I thoroughly enjoy my role as Activities coordinator and love coming to work and having chats with the residents and families.

I listen to the residents and learn about their interest and support them to be involved with activities.  When I am not at work not at work I love spending time with my family playing board games.

We would love to have new ideas, if you have a skill you would like to share or would like to be involved with activities please email us at ashbyhouse.activities@barchester.com

Mayor of Milton Keynes BBQ Visit

Today at Ashby House we were delighted to welcome Milton Keynes's New Mayor of MK, Councillor Mohammed Khan, to join us for a lunchtime barbecue.

Residents and staff enjoyed meeting the Mayor today, who was shown around our home by our General Manager, Wojciech Kuczkowski, before enjoying lunch with us.

Pictured here one of our residents, Chung, enjoyed chatting about England's latest UEFA Euro 2020 Football results with the Mayor.

Families together on Father's Day

On Father’s Day we were delighted to welcome residents’ families to join their Dads in the Ashby House garden where we had a selection of drinks and treats including beer, tea & coffee, crisps and chocolate, for residents and visitors to enjoy. It was a little chilly and overcast but that didn’t matter as families were happy to spend some time relaxing together, including Ellis and his family.

Enjoying fine wine and cheese

At Ashby House we enjoyed some fine cheeses and wines at our tasting session. We tried Brie, Stilton, Edam and Red Leicester with a selection of crackers, chutneys and fruit. David and Glennis loved it all.

A huge THANK YOU to all our Carers

At Ashby House we celebrated Carers’ Week by treating our fantastic care staff to a thank you card and box of chocolates from our Manager. The Activities Team also set up a table of tasty treats for care staff to help themselves to throughout the week. Nicola and all our Carers work very hard and are appreciated by residents, families and colleagues, so we couldn’t miss this opportunity to thank them.

A cultural experience for Italian National Day

Wednesday 2nd June was Italian National Day and at Ashby House we enjoyed a virtual cultural lesson with Rahel Nigussie. She taught us how to say some simple greetings in Italian which Glennis, David and everyone else had fun practising. Rahel also told us about some iconic Italian landmarks and explained the origin of the traditional menu we were looking forward to later in the day. At dinner time we enjoyed Tuscan Bean Soup and Antipasto for our starters. For our main dishes we had traditional Beef Lasagne and Tomato, Basil and Mozzarella Calzone. We rounded off our meal with a deliciously rich and creamy Tiramisu. We all had a great day!
