Activities at Archview Lodge Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Diane Wood
Hi, my name is Diane and I am Head of Activities here at Archview. I have worked in the homes since 2009.
I strongly believe in creating moments for our residents and embracing their individuality with tailor made activities, whilst remaining person centred and respecting resident’s preferences. Every day I like to ensure the residents on memory lane can enjoy themselves and have a good time whilst forming bonds with each other and the staff around them.
Outside of work, I have a 23 years old son and a wee dog called Hugo and my ambition is to make people smile and be happy.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Archview Lodge Care Home
Birthday celebrations
Birthdays are a firm fixture on our life enrichment programme and we were delighted to celebrate resident, Betty's 97 years young. Betty enjoyed a rousing rendition of 'happy birthday' before being presented with a home-made cake especially prepared by the homes hospital team.
A trip to the library
George, is an avid reader and expressed a wish to visit the library to take a look around the books. His wish was delivered as we took him to the local library in Dalkeith with his daughter. During the visit George enrolled as a member and chose a book to read. He is looking forward to a return visit.
Wedding bells!
Our resident Nancy went off to see her daughter Janet and son in law James get married on the 6th of May 2022. They got married at Fairfield house in Dalkeith. Nancy said it was such a lovely day seeing her daughter getting married and saying I do.
Conversations by the Pond
We had a lovely time joining Henry Slator for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘Conversations at the Pond’.
Henry had an unusual writing journey, which many of our residents found inspiring, he underwent chemotherapy in early 2020, which allowed him to rediscover his light-hearted outlook on life by imagining conversations with creatures in and around his large garden pond and adding buckets of fun.
The entertaining Conversations at the Pond, with its mass of colourful illustrations, took our residents along his journey, they felt inspired, cheered and loved hearing all about Henry’s experiences.
Easter celebrations
We celebrated Easter in style with a fun-filled weekend of treats, showing our creative sides in our Easter Bonnet competition. We enjoyed hot-cross buns and a special visit from the Easter bunny.
A trip to Dalkeith
We enjoyed a trip to Dalkeith for a shopping trip and a little fresh air, it was good to potter around the shops and we even bumped into a residents family to the delight of all.
