Activities at Archview Lodge Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Diane Wood
Hi, my name is Diane and I am Head of Activities here at Archview. I have worked in the homes since 2009.
I strongly believe in creating moments for our residents and embracing their individuality with tailor made activities, whilst remaining person centred and respecting resident’s preferences. Every day I like to ensure the residents on memory lane can enjoy themselves and have a good time whilst forming bonds with each other and the staff around them.
Outside of work, I have a 23 years old son and a wee dog called Hugo and my ambition is to make people smile and be happy.

Life at Archview Lodge Care Home
Cheese and wine tasting
Here at Archview our residents enjoy a varied life enrichment programme and a popular group activity is our ‘tasting’ days. This week we enjoyed sampling a selection of fruit, cheese and wine – all very good! Ahmet, our Chef described the cheeses from around the world and shared a number of interesting facts. Everyone enjoyed chatting and tasting the new flavours, hits on the day were passion fruit and mango, pineapple and smoked cheese. What will we be tasting next?
Valentine's celebrations
Residents celebrated Valentine’s in style and for one happy couple, David and Helen dined together for a very special private luncheon. The homes hospitality team created a delicious themed menu for everyone before residents sat back to enjoy live entertainment with, Steve Quinn who kept everyone toe-tapping along too at their Valentine’s party.
NESCAFE virtual tour
We had a fabulous time joining NESCAFÉ’s virtual coffee experience.
We were able to look into how they sustainably farm their coffee beans, as well as, to have a virtual tour of one of their factories all from the comfort of our home.
To make things even more interesting, our residents had the chance to test their knowledge with an interactive quiz, and to the delight of all to taste the signature Sweet Cinnamon Shaken Iced Coffee cocktail.
Delicious treats
We had a lovely time joining Chef Alex Connell from Vegetarian for Life for a Valentine’s-inspired virtual cookery demonstration. Chef Alex created some delicious Valentine’s Day-inspired vegetarian desserts, which our residents had the opportunity to try too.
First, our residents sampled a wonderful sticky toffee pudding, which was absolutely heavenly. Then they tried hazelnut truffles which were a huge hit and finally they were treated to a chocolate orange cake which everyone adored.
Christmas day
Here at Archview we had a fantastic Christmas Day, which involved themed movies, singing and dancing, family visits followed by a beautiful festive lunch with turkey, roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, puddings and cakes.
In the morning we welcomed Father Christmas and his elves from the North Pole, who brought gifts to all our residents - everyone was busy opening their presents and enjoying a glass of bubbly before the festive feast, prepared by our talented chef and kitchen team.
After lunch, we tuned in to watch and listen to the Queen's speech. Our day was filled with joy, smiles, music and laughter.
Christmas cake competition
Thank you to Linda Mackenzie (Kitchen Assistant) who made our beautiful cake to enter Barchester’s annual Christmas cake competition . Well done Linda! It is amazing and we can’t wait to taste it!
