Activities at Alice Grange Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Penny Allen

Lead Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Penny and I am the Lead Activities Coordinator here at Alice Grange.

I have many years of experience working in care homes in Activities, leisure and lifestyle roles.

I love being part of the Alice Grange team and supporting our residents to live their best lives with fun, interesting, and varied activities available every week. I always feel that the residents' input into our weekly planner is important as it gives all residents equal opportunity to explore new interests as well as keeping up with previous passions and hobbies.

Sun Cream and Showrounds

Sun Cream and Showrounds

On Saturday 16th June, we held our Open Day. We were blessed with beautiful weather that brought residents, relatives and visitors out en masse. We celebrated with teas, cakes and the odd shandy or two from our very own bar. We opened up our home to newcomers and raised some money for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation too.

The Great Barchester Bake Off

The Great Barchester Bake Off

Residents took on our bake off challenge and created some delicious masterpieces that were judged by our very own GM. Our 3 teams supplied us with some very tasty red velvet, zesty lemon and coffee cakes, which were soon devoured by both residents and staff.

Kesgrave's Big Lunch

We met with local politician, Dr. Dan Poulter, at Kesgrave's Big Lunch. We also met with people who were interested in coming to the home to live and work. Every woman in Kesgrave now has a Barchester tote bag!

We have received a lot of positive feedback about our community presence.

Afternoon Tea

Afternoon Tea

At the request of residents, we had a morning of making sandwiches, scones and jam tarts, ready to enjoy with an afternoon cup of tea. These were enjoyed by many here at Alice Grange - not a crumb was left!

We plan to repeat this activity in the following months, maybe with a glass of Pimm's for Wimbledon.

The Chelsea Flower Show

The Chelsea Flower Show

To celebrate the Chelsea Flower Show 2017, residents made flower arrangements to display around the home.
