Activities at Woodhorn Park Care Home

Activities make up the most important part of all our days at Woodhorn park, so we ensure a variety of social events are available that reflect the interests of all the people we support. In our Memory Lane community, we have group conversations and regularly reminiscence about past experiences, which is something that people living with dementia really enjoy. Many residents love gardening, baking, outings, pet care and gentle exercise, which we provide, along with many other wholesome activities, as it is essential that life at Woodhorn Park is fun and active.

Life at Woodhorn Park Care Home

Local teenager donates hamper to home

Woodhorn Park care home in Ashington recently received a lovely hamper from a local teenager who had saved her pocket money to show her appreciation to staff for caring through this difficult year.

Woodhorn Park has built up excellent reputations within its local community, regularly holding events and activities for residents and surrounding neighbours.

Julie Bond Senior General Manager at Woodhorn Park Care home, said: “We are always keen to develop links with the local community and we were humbled that Laila chose to reward our staff with such a wonderful gift.

Delicious treats

Residents of Woodhorn Park were delighted to receive a gift from a member of their local community hand-picked from his own allotment, these juicy plums and apples were soon turned into a delicious apple and plum crumble for everyone to enjoy by the homes hospitality team, led by Head Chef – Kevin.

V&A Dundee exhibition tour with V&A

We had a lovely time joining Becca Clark and James Wylie – members of V&A Dundee’s exhibitions team – as they took us on a virtual tour of the museum’s incredible Scottish Design Galleries.

We were introduced to the wide range of unique objects at the galleries from architecture and engineering, jewellery and textiles to theatre and their fascinating stories.

And we were able to learn more about the importance of all objects in telling the rich and varied history of Scottish design.

It was a lovely talk, enjoyed by all.
