Activities at White Lodge Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators here at White Lodge enjoy the fulfillment of helping residents feel important and a part of something. Meaningful moments are created through laughter and comfort. A varied activities programme is offered for the betterment of residents' bodies and minds, including music for health, 'Oomph' sessions and chair Zumba, in addition to coffee and cake groups that all inevitably lead to giggles and old fashioned singalongs. Also, we organise parties, trips out, walks in the country, bus outings and wonderful entertainers to visit our home. A sneaky tipple is always welcomed with cheese and crackers and, at the end of the day, it is important to go home knowing our activities have made a difference.

Magic Table Benefits Residents

White Lodge has a Memory Lane Community for those living with dementia.  The community has a range of resources designed to increase physical and social interactions.  The magic table is always a popular activity, it is fun, but also has been proven to have a very positive effect on those living with dementia.  The interactive light projected games offer sensory stimulation, relaxation and reminiscence.  Barchester's Life Enrichment Program offers all residents a meaningful person centered range of group and individual activities and events.

Mother's Day Afternoon Tea

White Lodge wanted to show our lovely ladies how appreciated they are and make them feel extra special on Mother's Day.  Every lady was presented with a floral bouquet, there was then a beautiful afternoon tea enjoyed by all.  There were also visits with family enjoyed by many.  Happy Mother's Day to all those precious mums.

Sunny Strolls and Coffee and Chocolates!

Residents were enjoying the glorious sunshine and the Spring flowers as we took a nature walk around our beautiful gardens.  The day continued with a relaxing, indulgent coffee and chocolate afternoon.  White Lodge residents are able to enjoy a range of activities as part of Barchester's Life Enrichment program.

White Lodge Featured on Countryfile

White Lodge residents, along with Martine and Tina from the activities team and Carl the Landscape gardener all appeared on BBC 1 Countryfile on Sunday 7th March.  The home submitted footage as they are taking part in the Plant Britain project.  The Plant Britain project is a two year project to plant 75,000 trees, one for every child that started school in 2020.  White Lodge are delighted to be part of this environmental project so the UK can help towards climate change.

The planting of the fruit trees is just the start of the work resident's want to undertake this year on their garden.  There will be a sensory garden with herbs and lavender plants, a rose memorial garden and raised beds to grow vegetables to be used in our home cooked meals.

New patio furniture has been ordered and we are putting in our order for a glorious summer so we can all enjoy sitting and working in the gardens.  We look forward to keeping you updated.

Spring Crafts

With the glorious blue skies and blooming flowers Spring is here and some cute little visitors joined us today.  Our creative residents made some lovely Easter bunnies from blocks of wood!  They carefully painted them, cut out the ears and feet and even added whiskers, we are all delighted with the end results.  The bunnies are pride of place in our café lounge and go perfectly with the decorations from St David's Day yesterday.
