Activities at White Lodge Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators here at White Lodge enjoy the fulfillment of helping residents feel important and a part of something. Meaningful moments are created through laughter and comfort. A varied activities programme is offered for the betterment of residents' bodies and minds, including music for health, 'Oomph' sessions and chair Zumba, in addition to coffee and cake groups that all inevitably lead to giggles and old fashioned singalongs. Also, we organise parties, trips out, walks in the country, bus outings and wonderful entertainers to visit our home. A sneaky tipple is always welcomed with cheese and crackers and, at the end of the day, it is important to go home knowing our activities have made a difference.

Churches Donate Easter Eggs

We were overwhelmed today and would like to thank the communities of Lyneham and Bradenstoke for their generous donations of Easter eggs through St Michael's and St Mary's Churches.  Our residents will enjoy these so much and we are so thankful for such kindness.  We wish everyone a Happy Easter and look forward to the long weekend ahead.

Residents Teach the Team to Knit

White Lodge enjoyed a fun, relaxing and busy knit and natter this week.  The first of the hats for the newborns was finished today, we will continue to keep knitting for all those precious lockdown babies.   It has been quite a while since Martine knitted so she was fortunate to have a private lesson from our talented knitters.  To start Martine off she is making a scarf for a toy teddy bear.  We have so much to learn from this amazing generation, traditional skills like knitting and baking are so important and we all plan to learn even more over the coming months.  We are so lucky to have such wonderful residents who are happy to impart their knowledge.

Cynthia's Smiles

The smiles say it all, it really has been wonderful to be able to open our doors again to family members.  Cynthia was delighted that her daughter was able to come and sit in the comfort of her room and that they could hold hands.   One single named visitor is able to visit in the room, with the White Lodge visitor pod remaining open for bookings for other family members and friends.  It has been such a positive week with these first steps towards visiting inside the home.

Exercise and Movement

Residents and staff had such fun at today's exercise and movement session following the "Oomph" program.  Oomph stands for Our Organisation Makes People Happy and promotes exercise and relaxation to benefit resident's wellbeing.  The smiles in the photos show how much the session was enjoyed.  The pom poms were a great hit!
