Activities at Westvale House Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Joanne Sherwood

Activities Coordinator

Hi, I'm Joanne and I'm the Activities Co-ordinator at Westvale House! I joined the team in December 2023 and absolutely love my role. Getting to spend time with our residents every day and getting to know each of them more and more, is such a privilege.

I get to create and tailor our activities to the preferences of each individual resident, making sure they're all doing things they'll absolutely love, and that brings me and the rest of the team so much joy. Making each of their days special is what I believe my job is all about.

Yasmin, our Admin Assistant arranged and coordinated the annual Macmillan fund raiser with the help of Sarah, Activities coordinator.  Together & with a whole home approach they raised £150.00 for the charity

Residents and visiting relatives enjoyed games such as “Guess how many sprinkles were on Colin the Caterpillar cake?” & the winner took him home for tea!  Westvale House’s fund raising efforts have been a big success - they managed to raise £150.00 (one hundred and fifty pounds) and, most importantly, everyone had a lot of fun doing it!

Good luck to retiring Head Gardener

After almost 14 years of continuous service at Westvale House in Old Hall, Warrington, much-loved Head Gardener, Alan Bellian has decided to retire.

Staff and residents at the home thanked Alan in style by hosting a small socially distanced garden gathering with a personalised cake, savoury buffet & presents to thank him for many years of dedication.  Everyone at the home has very fond memories of Alan and he will be sadly missed.

During his time at Westvale House, Alan has maintained and planted areas in the landscaped gardens to all aspects of the care home creating raised beds and colourful floral displays for residents to enjoy as views from the home or when strolling through the garden pathways.
