Activities at The Warren Care Home

Here at The Warren, our activities team are always very busy thinking of new ways to keep residents active, both physically and mentally. We have regular trips out in the minibus, both locally and further a field, including the London Eye and the Thames River Trip), at least once a week during the summer months. We also enjoy visits from PAT dogs and have professional exercise sessions and live entertainment, which are always popular.

Kirstie Tifrani

Activities Coordinator

My name is Kirstie and I am lucky enough to be the Activities Coordinator here at The Warren.

I have many years of experience working in care homes in Activities and leisure and lifestyle roles.

I love being part of The Warren team and supporting our residents to live their best lives with fun, interesting, and varied activities available every week. I always feel that the importance of residents' input into our weekly planner is important giving all residents equal opportunity to explore new interests as well as keeping up with previous interests and hobbies.

Elvis is Back!

We welcomed the King of Rock 'n' Roll back to The Warren again. As always, this was a very entertaining evening, with much dancing and swaying going on. We are looking forward to his next visit!

Life on the Railways

James Beswick – or 'Jim', as he is known – started his life on the railways at Northwich, Carlisle when he was just 15 years old, first as a fireman and eventually climbing his way up the ladder into the role of a driver.

Jim moved to Norwich Station when he was 17 on a transfer in 1949, where he eventually met his future wife and they married in August 1951.

Jim became a driver and eventually drove the famous Flying Scotsman; at this time, Jim would have been in his late 20s/early 30s.

When Jim eventually finished driving, he became a foreman; at this time, he would have liked to take an early retirement, but he appeared to be invaluable, as he was asked to stay, finally retiring at 65, still at Norwich, where he had been since that transfer back in 1949.

Jim had many happy hours doing the job he loved and his family have many photographs of him and his trains.

On 11th November 2017, when the Flying Scotsman visited Norwich Station again, Jim, now at the age of 92, was reunited with the famous engine as a surprise by the activities team at The Warren, where Jim is now happily living.

The Red Arrows

On 24th August 2017, The Red Arrows visited Norwich Airport. Our fun started when they flew within sight of The Warren on their way into the airport at approximately 10:00 a.m.

The minibus arrived at the back of the airport in time to see them perform a short display for all those who had made the effort to go and see them.

As they were only refuelling at Norwich, they were off again later in the afternoon, returning again at around 6:00 p.m.

Our activities team went down to see them come in and then went round to the helipads at the airport to see them all lined up on the strip in front of the helicopter sheds.

We asked to residents who enjoyed seeing them in the morning if they wanted to witness their amazing display again. Well, the look on their faces when they saw them said it all.
