Activities at The Warren Care Home

Here at The Warren, our activities team are always very busy thinking of new ways to keep residents active, both physically and mentally. We have regular trips out in the minibus, both locally and further a field, including the London Eye and the Thames River Trip), at least once a week during the summer months. We also enjoy visits from PAT dogs and have professional exercise sessions and live entertainment, which are always popular.

Kirstie Tifrani

Activities Coordinator

My name is Kirstie and I am lucky enough to be the Activities Coordinator here at The Warren.

I have many years of experience working in care homes in Activities and leisure and lifestyle roles.

I love being part of The Warren team and supporting our residents to live their best lives with fun, interesting, and varied activities available every week. I always feel that the importance of residents' input into our weekly planner is important giving all residents equal opportunity to explore new interests as well as keeping up with previous interests and hobbies.

Trip to Sandringham to pay our respects to the Queen

We took the morning travelling to Sandringham to pay respects to our Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

It was a beautiful day, and the weather was just perfect.  We bought some flowers to take and a picnic and it was just wonderful.

The residents were staggered by the sheer amount of flowers, gifts, toys and balloons that had been left.  The residents thoroughly enjoyed their day and felt honoured to be able to mark her passing in this way.

International Beer day

Well what can I say, yet another lovely day out with our residents for International Beer Day. We choose a river side pub so we could have some lunch and of course a beer. After a lovely lunch we made a visit for dessert to the ice cream man, 99s all round with strawberry sauce. I had blue sherbet on mine which made me feel like a kid again! Such a wonderful day all the residents came back happy, full and slightly more tanned.

Fruit picking in our Garden

Another warm and busy day here at Team Warren. We have fruit trees growing in our very own garden, so we took our containers and went fruit picking at 9.30am before it got too warm..we say before it got too warm it was already 26 degrees so we made it quick. This afternoon we sorted the Tombola prizes and numbered them. The ladies loved this, all finished off with Ice Creams brought round by the chef, and for some residents, Ice Creams under the hair dryer.

A day at the Beach Theme Day

What an absolute amazing day we had.  I arranged a "Day at the beach" theme day and friends and family were invited to join us too.  The fun started at 11am with a Live Punch and Judy show from Poz, we then enjoyed a delicious BBQ made by our chefs Aidan and Afua, and then finished the day with Ice lollies and a musical song tour around the world with Svetla. It was a great day, not too warm, not too sunny and the rain held off until after it was all cleared up.

World Chocolate Day

This morning we made the skewers, a mix of Strawberries and Marshmallows and Strawberries only. We then added Shortbread Fingers, Bananas and Raspberries to the mix..and what a combination it was too! This, as you can imagine, went down a treat, yes we indulged, yes we did get messy, and yes we did have fun! So all in all, the aim of the day was met..and you can see by the pictures how messy some of our residents got.

Bumblebarn Alpacas

This afternoon was spent canoodling with Alpacas!!! They were very much loved by all the residents and everyone got to see them. Our residents especially love our Animal Therapy visits. Thank you Bumblebarn for bringing Lemmy and Boss to visit us. We now all want an Alpaca!
