Activities at The Warren Care Home

Here at The Warren, our activities team are always very busy thinking of new ways to keep residents active, both physically and mentally. We have regular trips out in the minibus, both locally and further a field, including the London Eye and the Thames River Trip), at least once a week during the summer months. We also enjoy visits from PAT dogs and have professional exercise sessions and live entertainment, which are always popular.

Kirstie Tifrani

Activities Coordinator

My name is Kirstie and I am lucky enough to be the Activities Coordinator here at The Warren.

I have many years of experience working in care homes in Activities and leisure and lifestyle roles.

I love being part of The Warren team and supporting our residents to live their best lives with fun, interesting, and varied activities available every week. I always feel that the importance of residents' input into our weekly planner is important giving all residents equal opportunity to explore new interests as well as keeping up with previous interests and hobbies.

Chocolate Fountain and Charades

We started the day with a game of good old fashioned Charades and what a time we had, boy did we laugh. Followed by a sumptuous chocolate fountain, with marshmallows, strawberries, shortbread and pineapple to dip in...Yum!  We also offered a diabetic choice with a delicious vanilla yoghurt to dip instead.

Decorating the home for Christmas

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas.   We had such a lovely day transforming our conservatory into the "Grotto" and putting up the Christmas trees and we haven't finished yet!!

But we stopped to have a lovely trip to Blue Boar Garden centre to see the singing reindeer, and the Christmas displays. We also just had to stop off for a cup of tea and the largest hot chocolate in Sprowston, our resident wasn't sure if she needed to climb it or drink it.

Bumblebarn Alpaca visit

A big thank you to Bumblebarn for bringing Lemmy and Boss to see us today. They were very well loved by all the residents wonderful day had by all.  They happily walked around the rooms meeting all the residents, I think they loved it as much as we did.  They make the sweetest noise too which surprised us all, they talk to each other with a Hum.. Its so cute.

Christmas wreath workshop

We had a full day of Christmas activities.  We started with Christmas Wreath making this afternoon and finished off the day with Andre Rieu “Home for Christmas” DVD.  Mulled wine and cheese footballs were the treats of the night too.

Fitness and Break Dinosaur

We had the ever funny Mr Dod, who was on fine form as per usual, some lunch and then we started to paint our break Dinosaur. It's work in progress, but we started it’s a long way to go but we will get there.

Fireworks and Poppies

We made a start on our trailing poppy display and made sure we marked all poppies and their meanings. Purple for Animals who lost their lives in the war; Black for Afro Caribbean soldiers and white for pacifists and who don't wish to glorify war, as well as the traditional red. It's work in progress and is going to look stunning.

We finished off the day with our first ever Fireworks night. It was fantastic. We had sparklers, we had Roman candles and we had fountains.
