Activities at Vecta House Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Tanya Everson

Activities Coordinator

Hello, My name is Tanya and I am the Lifestyle Leader here at Vecta House.

I started work at Vecta in June 2018 as part of the housekeeping team. I have worked as part of Activities Team for over a year and have grown very passionate in ensuring our residents have stimulating, life enriching activities available every day. I feel proud knowing I have brought smiles and laughter to our residents and love working with the great team we have here at Vecta House.

Horsin' Around

Vecta House had a lovely visit from Tippy the horse from Bodster on Monday 21st January. Everyone enjoyed the interaction with Tippy, and the less mobile residents were also visited in their rooms by her.

Ssstt…Snakes at Vecta House

Residents and staff had a lovely visit from Georgina and her snakes. Residents and staff were able to hold and stroke them and they even visited some of our residents in their rooms.

Animal-assisted therapy is proven to promote wellbeing and benefit for those who live with dementia.

Christmas Jumper Day

Christmas Jumper Day

Staff had lots of fun dressing up for Christmas Jumper Day. As you can see, our General Manager was very happy, as she dressed as a 'Queen Elf'.

Bird Box Painting

Two of our residents from our Memory Lane community enjoyed their art and craft therapy session recently, where they painted bird boxes.

Nevil personalized his bird box with his name and his beloved wife’s names, and Pat made a beautiful bird box. The art & craft session is helpful for dementia’s residents, to enable them to communicate and to open their mind through art.

Wear it Pink

Wear it Pink

To show our support for Cancer Research, we held an event in the home and staff dressed up in their best pink outfits.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

We had a lot of visitors join us for our coffee morning on 28th September. Everyone enjoyed our homemade cakes that were donated by staff and loved ones. We managed to raise £96 in total for Macmillan Cancer Support.
