What our families say: Vecta House Care Home

"I'm unable to complete certain areas of the questionnaire as my husband has complex needs and is confined to his room, he is bedbound and has specific dietary needs. The staff are very caring and approachable always updating me on his condition at this very trying point of time Covid. They have managed this situation so well."

"My partner has been a resident of Vecta House for almost two years now, and whilst her needs have changed considerably over this period, the staff have always been caring, polite and helpful. The atmosphere is always friendly, and the rooms clean and tidy. Over the past year, visiting has been restricted due to Coivd, but I knew my partner was being well cared for during this difficult period, which meant a lot to me."

"Vecta House has been great for my dad. He is happier here than he has been anywhere. The staff are all amazing and go above and beyond to provide a homely and professional service."

"My experience is difficult due to the pandemic of COVID 19. I have not been inside Vecta House only the reception. I saw mum today for the first in 1 month and I have to say she looks very well. I have had contact through phones and meeting with her carers. I am happy to say the care she is receiving is outstanding. The carers at Vecta have made a terrible for my mum and me so much easier."

"The staff at Vecta House are professional and kind, treating residents as individuals and taking the trouble to get to know their backgrounds too. Under extraordinary circumstances during the Covid-19 pandemic, they locked down quickly, keeping their residents safe and well. We have been able to talk to Mum via Skype and Zoom all through this which has been wonderful. It is so reassuring to know that the home’s primary focus is on taking great care of their residents. The home is always clean and tidy, there are activities to do too. Mum always looks so tidy and well-groomed, happy and with a good appetite. Thank you all."

"The whole team at Vecta House make it what it is, so warm and friendly with everyone so caring and professional at what they do. As I do not live on the Island, regular communication is essential for knowing that my sister is safe and well. Being so far away can be difficult but the team do a brilliant job of keeping me involved and giving me peace of mind. My sister is cared for so beautifully and the amazing gardens, plus the spacious layout of Vecta House, gives my sister the freedom to be very happy in her world - to us, this means so much."

"I will always be grateful that my mum spent her last months at Vecta House. She was well cared for and respected throughout her stay. I spent a lot of time here with her and saw first-hand how the staff treat the residents with respect and professionalism. That care and respect were extended to me too; the key staff always made time to talk to me, and give me honest information about my mum's condition. I felt very early on that they got a sense of my mum; which really put my mind at rest. The staff here are a little like superheroes in my mind. They deal with some very difficult challenges that dementia patients exhibit, yet the atmosphere at Vecta is positive and caring. I am so comforted that this is where Mum was looked after. A very huge, thank you, to everyone."

"My mum is resident at Vecta House and has been through various stages of Dementia. The staff are caring and hardworking and Mum is looked after very well. I have no concerns for her welfare or care. Families and residents are treated with dignity and respect at all times. I would highly recommend Vecta House to anyone looking for a care home for a loved one. This is often a really difficult decision to make but I can honestly say the level of care she receives here is exceptional. Nothing is ever too much for the people working to keep her comfortable, well and safe."

"From the moment you enter the home, you feel at home. It is very relaxing and not only is the care exceptional, the experience for visitors is also excellent. Everyone is dealt with in a calm and loving manner. My husband has settled down extremely well and although unaware of his circumstances, he is very happy and content. The family is so very pleased with all aspects of his care."

"In 5 weeks at Vecta House, my husband seems happy and settled. The staff are friendly and helpful and are able to manage his difficult behaviour without resorting to medication. He has improved in mood and mobility since being there."
Joy Lcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.5 out of 5
"I found the staff very caring and helpful to my husband's difficulties or forgetfulness and confused times. He found it stressful as he doesn't know why I wasn't there and had forgotten I was in hospital."
Lorraine Gcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.25 out of 5
"My wife of 46 years has settled in very well after a bad stay at another home. The staff are great and manager greater. If I had to pick the best staff person it would not be possible. Thank you all for looking after my wife and keep up the good work."

"Have been visiting for over 2 years and have always found the staff very helpful, friendly, happy and let themselves be known to you if there are any questions one has in relation to who they are seeing. Always when the drinks cart is around you are asked if you would like a drink. This provider is always clean, tidy, spotless each time I have been around."

"Recently refurbished facilities give a comfortable, homely atmosphere. Staff at all levels are kind, caring, patient and attentive. The level of support from all staff to relatives as well as residents is impressive."
A Bcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.67 out of 5
"The home has just been refurbished so currently is lovely and clean and fresh outside areas always look attractive and inviting, although I have never seen them used? In general, I have always felt the care here to be very good and staff very helpful and interactive. However, on this visit, I did not see any of the 'usual' staff members and my mother had not really been attended to all morning which I am not so happy about."
Karen Ocarehome.co.uk rating: 4 out of 5
"Mum has been a resident for nearly a month and we have been so impressed with the whole experience. Most importantly the staff throughout are excellent and treat Mum with kindness, knowledge and respect. The difficulties of transferring from independent living to a care home have been difficult for Mum but she has settled reasonably well and is much better physically after only 3 weeks. She is enjoying the excellent food and has surprised us by joining in activities and outings. Credit must go to all the staff."

"I find that the home has improved in recent months under new management. My mother likes to regularly have cheese and biscuits for pudding but to my knowledge, only one type of cheese is ever offered. If this is a small indication of menus, then more variety and more imagination is needed. Sometimes, on entering from reception, there is a very strong smell of urine, which is off-putting and unpleasant. I feel that my mother is receiving very good care, all things considered. There is nowhere better on the island for her."
L Mcarehome.co.uk rating: 3.83 out of 5
"As a family, we're extremely happy with the care given to my Mother. The premises are excellent and well tended. The staff are caring, gentle and friendly. The management are efficient, understanding and very professional. If and when my time comes I want to be here."
Sarah Mcarehome.co.uk rating: 5 out of 5
"Since becoming a resident with dementia at Vecta House Care Home six months ago, my husband has definitely improved with his everyday living. The carers are really kind and attentive and he is happy in his new environment. The care home is spacious and allows my husband 'freedom' of movement which is important to him. This leaves me happy with peace of mind. His appetite has increased and he is looking so much better. He is being well cared for by pleasant, caring staff. Thank you."

"The management showed us around with pride. All the staff said hello to us, unlike my mother's previous home. They quickly learnt mine and my family's names. They treat my mother with respect and care for her dignity excellently. I have recommended Vecta House to friends who have relatives in a similar position."
A Jcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.83 out of 5
"My experience as a concerned daughter has been good. My mother was treated with kindness, gentleness and affection. No once did I hear anything said or done that I would have felt uncomfortable with. I would recommend the home without question."

"My mum and dad have both been lucky enough to end their days at Barchester Vecta House Care Home. One after 18 months and the other after 3 years. Both have had the care I could only have wished for. I can't thank the staff enough for everything. If anyone has had any experience of Barchester Vecta House Care Home, I have. It's a very friendly home and they have put up with me every day for each amount of time. I can't thank them enough."

"My husband has been at Vecta House since 2014. I am so grateful to all the staff and managers for the excellent care he receives, I have only ever seen dedicated, caring, respectful, understanding care given to all residents. The manager and his deputy are devoted to their patients- willingly drop everything to fill in to cover absenteeism with an occasional shortage of staff. They will not just use agency staff as they feel it's so important for both patients and relatives to feel there is always continuity of care. Familiar faces to care for so many severely troubled soles. They care for the families so much and involve us in the management of our relatives. I feel the latest quality commission report was damning and harsh and the overall loyalty and dedication of all the staff is undermined. Maybe there were a few things that needed change but to deflate such wonderful care is sad."

"My mother was a redient at Vecta House from March 2014 until her death in November 2016. She was treated with dignity and utmost care at all times no matter how difficult her behaviour became because of her Alzheimer's Disease. I cannot praise the staff and management highly enough. I also received great support from everyone. Any problems were dealt with promptly and efficiently."
Louise Kcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.83 out of 5
"Very pleased with the care given to my husband. He is always treated with dignity and the staff are wonderful. His room is pleasant but the en-suite could do with a facelift. The lounges are a bit tired looking too. The gardens are lovely. The food is plentiful and well presented. A good and varied menu too. He especially enjoys the puddings. He has been in two other care homes but Vecta is the only one he has seemed settled in. They manage him very well."
G Mcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.75 out of 5
"I cannot fault Vecta House. The staff are kind, compassionate, caring. Endless patience and understanding with all residents. The patients are clean, tidy, well fed and hydrated. The rooms too are clean, fresh, comfortable. Nothing is too much trouble for anyone. Problems are resolved quickly, sympathetically. Feel very happy with all aspects of care, especially with such completely challenging patients. Very well done."
Mike Bcarehome.co.uk rating: 4.92 out of 5
"Vecta House provides stimulating care in wonderful surroundings. Staff are excellent, food excellent. Residents can walk between three wings and enjoy the delightful gardens. They also have a full nursing service for residents nearing the end of their journey."
