Orchard House Care Centre in Newport
Orchard House provides a happy and relaxed lifestyle in the heart of the beautiful Isle of Wight, with its stunning scenic surroundings. Our peaceful secluded gardens give a sense of space and tranquility. The town of Newport is nearby for shops, cafés and the Medina theatre.
Orchard House offers a homely environment and the support of high quality nursing care for adults of all ages, helping to manage disabilities such as Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease and sensory impairments. We provide personally tailored levels of care, helping people to enjoy life with support but as independently as possible.
Our Memory Lane Community offers dedicated care for people living with dementia. Walking around our Memory Lane Community you will find a place that has the feel of a family home. We provide social stimulus and promote inclusion to ensure meaningful engagement between residents. As well as the main social area, we have a beautiful quiet room with a lovely view of the wildlife garden. This room also doubles up as our six foot cinema screen for those afternoons at the movies.
A focus on meeting the needs of individuals is vital to the healthy, well-balanced life style we want all the people we support to enjoy. Our emphasis is on person-centred care. A varied range of activities ensures that daily living is pleasurable and rewarding. We are proud of the quality of our home cooking, hospitality and housekeeping, which minimise the worries of everyday living and leave time to enjoy relaxation and hobbies. Our minibus can often be seen around the island on enjoyable trips to garden centres, the coast and meandering country lanes.
With three attractive lounges and two dining rooms, Orchard House provides plenty of opportunity to socialise - or find a quiet corner to relax.
Please call in for a coffee and a tour - you'll be welcome anytime. We will always be happy to talk through how we can help you and your family.

Hi, my name is Kim, and I am the General Manager here at Orchard House. Welcome to our website!
I grew up in Scotland and tried many university courses and careers before I settled into nursing at a later stage in life. I worked in hospitality, managed pubs, tried primary teaching and studied English and politics at university. I’ve travelled the world, but eventually decided I needed a career that I could give something back with.
I trained to be a mental health nurse and graduated in 2008, along with two children in tow. My career in Scotland involved working with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour, and I worked my way up the ladder quickly to management. I specialised in positive behaviour support, and loved making a difference to people’s lives.
My family and I made the decision to move to the Isle of Wight in 2017, and that is when I joined Barchester as a peripatetic nurse initially, before being offer the position of deputy manager in 2018 at the Orchards. I love my work here, we have an amazing team and residents, and there are so many opportunities to really care and look after people who deserve that in their later years.Get in touch Meet my team
