Activities at Tewkesbury Fields Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Paula Lourenco

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Paula and I’m the Activities coordinator at Tewkesbury Fields care home. I’ve joined Barchester healthcare in 2020.

As part of the lifestyle enrichment team, I will be organising daily activities, ensuring that residents have varied activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives, creating memories and be able to provide meaningful activities to each one of the residents living at Tewkesbury fields.

Gardening time with Eddie

With the Summer sunny days coming ahead, Eddie - our Head of Maintenance, has been really busy maintaining our gardens with some wonderful new flowers and plants!

Richard, one of our residents enjoyed getting involved in helping Eddie with a new wooden planter placed in one of our courtyards; And it's looking amazing!

"Good food and a glass of gin and tonic!" - by 103 years old, Marion

What a fabulous day celebrating Marion’s super special 103rd birthday!

Marion has been overwhelmed with such a lovely day celebrating with family, life time friends, old neighbours, friends from Bredon WI where Marion was president for 3 years, along with staff and residents at Tewkesbury Fields!

The team got in touch with the local community and tried to arrange as many cards as possible; Marion has received 121 birthday cards!  We all enjoyed listening to Rob playing the piano and also some singing. PianoHedgehog

Some great photos taken, including a family photo of the 4 generations together

Life is good at Tewkesbury Fields!

On a glorious day with the sun shining, as well the regular walks, residents have been making the most of it outside in our beautiful gardens.

Here is Richard, enjoying a chat with Heather, one of our amazing care team members! With the sound of the birds, beautiful gardens...what better way to spend time enjoying the fresh air and the glorious sunshine?

Guided tour of Tewkesbury Abbey

It was a privilege to visit Tewkesbury Abbey, and enjoy a guided tour by the Chairman and Trustee John Jeffreys from Tewkesbury Abbey Foundation! 900 years of History! And one of the finest medieval church buildings in the country!

Did you know, Tewkesbury Abbey was bought for £483 by the people of Tewkesbury at the dissolution of its monastery in 1540 to serve as their parish Church?

We got to learn this, but so much more about physical and spiritual needs, worship, the monks, the Tewkesbury through the war, tombs of Princes, artwork, stories and memories of its people, peace, and so much more....

Flower arranging

Residents enjoyed getting involved in the flower arranging.

The home was filled with floral scents, colours, and pretty sights! The beautiful flower creations were then proudly displayed around the home for everyone to enjoy.

At Tewkesbury Fields, we are always looking for a variety of events and activities to offer to our residents. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind.

2 Valais blacknose and 4 pigmy goats

What a fantastic time with students from Bredon School and Lodge Valais & friends who kindly brought 2 valais blacknose and 4 pigmy goats for everyone to see!

Not to mention the cuteness, there was a lot of fun and laughter together.
While meeting the students, residents truly enjoyed sharing some stories of when they were younger; some had farms and talked about their work experiences.

There were so many cuddles too!
Thanks to all at Bredon School and Lodge Valais, for teaming up together and bringing so much joy to all residents and staff at Tewkesbury Fields!
